Lacking moral fiber.

Lacking moral fiber.

Man… work was brutal today. I got there and one of my coworkers spent 4 hours in a checkstand without getting a break (which in Oregon is illegal since you are required by law to take one every two hours), then at one point he had to go to lunch for two hours because he came in too early and the store doesn’t have enough hours for him to stay a full day. So they called yet another one of our people down to check leaving us with two. Then I had to go to lunch and that left one person up stairs by themselves having to manage every department… I came back and had to help some customers for a bit. Then at about 8:00pm I headed downstairs to start bringing clothes in from our sidewalk sale (about 40 racks so it takes awhile). The shoe lady that had been checking for almost two hours finally gets to go back to her job… for five minutes before calling her down again. At this point I finally have some help bringing things in. The downside is that there was no one upstairs to help anyone find anything or get anything done. So we had at least one shoplifter make off with $100 worth of stuff because Security went home early. It’s like we’re designed to be total fail.

The person in charge (of the checkstands and the store tonight) is one of the same people who forced my boss to work a checkstand with an injured back. There was also another case that happened recently where an actual cashier had breathing problems due to the tar. She had a severe case of Bronchitis and needed to get to the ER and they denied her… at least until she said she thought she was going to die there in the checkstand.

Jesus Christ it’s like we’re competing with Wal-Mart to see who will make it to the bottom first.
