Another Unreal Adventure In Der Wunderlands

Yutram and I be lookin’ sooooooo fine.

Yutram and I managed to hook up for another adventure in the Wonderlands! We aided Queen Butt Stallion and became Heroes of Brighthoof!

This castle is simply fabulous!

We played for a few good hours, looting shooting and cycling between all kinds of different powers. I also have a pet dragon now… AWESOME!!!

Butt Stallion in all of her glory

I have nothing against Borderlands 3, but there’s something about Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands that really draws us in. Looking forward to the next play session!

It’s Been Another Unreal Weekend With Kena!

Back during the Steam Lunar New Year Sale I picked up Kena: Bridge of Spirits. I saw gameplay for it over the holidays and it immediately caught my attention. So far this game has managed to suck about four hours out of me, and what a glorious four hours it was! It features beautiful cinematic visuals that could compare to a Pixar film, a beautiful soundtrack, and top notch voice acting. I played this on my TV today and it felt like controlling a movie.

Kena builds up her fanclub.

Kena (pronounced Kay-nuh)is a young Spirit Guide, who makes use of her magic to help souls that are unable to pass on. She’s on a journey to find a sacred mountain shrine, and befriends creatures known as “Rot” along her travels. Her little friends can aid her in purifying the forests of evil, and are strong enough to lift objects for Kena.

Adventure Awaits!

The game features a giant world to explore, souls in need of saving and a forest in need of magical intervention. When exploring it feels like a modern Tomb Raider game, but when fighting it feels like Dark Souls without all the cursing if you die in battle. Then it finishes off with a touch of Okami, thanks to the Rot aiding your spiritual power to cleanse the forest of evil.

ALL HAIL THE FOREST TEAR

In some areas you can unlock what are called “Forest Tears”. Forest Tears enable the Rot to unlock their full potential – allowing you to clean up the area and uncover areas you couldn’t access before.

Feelin’ Blue

I might play a bit more on Steam Deck before bed; it was nice to play it on the couch earlier, though. And even nicer, the cloud saves going between the two. 😀

Cozy Dungeon Is Cozy

For tonight’s little bit of play I decided to play Trine on my desktop. As old as this game is – it’s graphics are beyond gorgeous, even in 4K. At the rate I’m actually finishing games I might actually finish this one! I did come close at one point, but something in the level messed up and I couldn’t continue. Of course I’ve had plenty of other games to wander around in since then, and now I can work towards completing another adventure, and even more adventures to come!

Update On The Chucken

Chuckie during healthier times.

We took Chuckie to the vet today. They managed to help bring the little guy back to life a bit – they put him on an IV and put him on antibiotics. He’s still a little slow, but at least he’s grooming himself a bit more and he’s started purring again! He granted me access to his belly a few minutes ago. I’m just glad he’s feeling better, even a little.

Evening Open Thread

I’m mentally checked out tonight. Our Orange Cat Chuckie has been sick since last Saturday. We’ve taken him to the vet, but he doesn’t seem to be doing any better, quite the opposite. He has an inflamed bladder, and we’re also thinking that he might have some blockage that he can’t get out. I’ve been checking on him regularly, and now he’s refusing food and water. I hate seeing him suffer. He’s usually pouncing around all over the place or striking up a conversation, and now he doesn’t even have the energy to groom himself. Each morning when I wake up I and check on him, and I’m worried about waking up one morning and finding him gone.

Daughter Of The Genies

The last bit of Shantae: Half Genie Hero was a true test of my patience. At one point it was like playing a lava infested Flappy Bird game, and the boss battles were pretty brutal, but not as brutal as the ride out. But the challenge is what makes it fun! Now all that’s left is to go back and plink away at the other achievements in my spare time. There is also additional DLC for this game, but the reviews don’t make it look very promising. If they ever choose to put it on a sale or put it into a bundle I’ll consider it.

But for now I can happily add this to my list of finished games!

Your Soul Surges In Your Body

One last screenshot of Soul Calibur VI before heading back to reality tomorrow. Made it to Level 43! If I have time tomorrow I’ll probably give SC6 a break and maybe try to finish Shantae: Half Genie Hero, unless a plot twist crops up. This was my personal reward for starting an SFM render. I’m hoping to have things wrapped up by late April or early May.

This Sunday Was Nothing But Unreal (Engine Games)

An Angry and Fashionable Cabbit Girl readies her blade.

Made it to Level 27 in Soul Calibur VI! I started playing it on my Deck this morning, moved over to the Big Screen TV PC in the afternoon, then finished off on my regular Desktop. It’s nice to be able to progress in a game that I only have to buy once, and I can enjoy it in a multitude of ways. I did more reading up on the modding scene for Soul Calibur VI, and it looks like it has quite the modding community! That’s something I’ll save for another post. I had a wonderful time mashing buttons to my hearts content.

Then later this evening my ol’ buddy Yutram and I dipped our toes into the world of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. It was just the right price during the current Steam Sale, so it only made sense to give it a shot. After all we did enjoy Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon Keep (Which if you haven’t played it yet, you totally should), so why not?

Yutram (Left) and your Overlord (Right)

Unlike the previous Borderlands games, you can make your own custom character from scratch, which can produce some interesting results. Especially when you travel the Overworld:

The Overworld.

We had such a fun time casting spells and collecting enchanted weapons, we made it to Level 4! We’re only just starting off but this already is looking like a lot of fun. It captures the humour of previous Borderlands games – I always like listening to the ridiculous lines the enemies spout as they’re attacking, they probably had the most fun writing up all the dialogue. We’ll have to make another play date for this soon!
