The Mind Of OverlordTomala

WAHOO!

After years of emulating the PS1 and Wii versions I finally decided to get the recent PC port! It comes with Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Lunatea’s Veil. I never got to play the PS1 version on release, and I never owned a PS2, so it was nice to finally buy the real deal for my platform! I played a bit of the Lunatea’s Veil tonight, and cleared a few stages in Door to Phantomile last night. It runs nicely on Steam Deck! I’m not sure what’s been up with me playing all of these furry critters lately, but I’m sure it’ll give me more to blog about. 😛

Green Tea & Gaming Chill

I’ve been having some issues getting back to my “normal” sleep schedule… I find myself waking up just a few afters after sleeping, and instead of lying there hoping to go back to sleep I’ve been reading on my tablet or entertaining myself with something on my Steam Deck until my brain decides it’s time to pass out again. As a result I’ve really been pushing through Freedom Planet 2!

Other than that – I’ve been enjoying my endless tea collection! Mostly green teas with fruit or ginseng, and my nightly Matcha Milk Tea! In fact… I just looked at the clock, and I see that it’s Matcha O’ Clock. I should probably take care of something.

Freedom Planet 2 is AWESOME

I’ve been playing Freedom Planet 2 on my Steam Deck on and off, and decided to put more time into it tonight. I’m really liking it! They made quite a few changes since the original game, which could basically be described as a Sonic Clone (a really good Sonic Clone!). The music is still powerful as ever, and the visuals look just as stunning – with the protagonists having matured a bit since the original game.

Instead of going from one level to another, you gain access to different levels instead (kinda like in the older Super Mario games). This is great if you want to go back and explore each level (there’s a lot to explore in each level). You also have the added option of starting levels with buffs that you can purchase with gems you find throughout your runs, though it introduces a penality.

Freedom Planet 2 allows you to choose between 4 different characters to play as from the start. So far I’ve mostly played as Lilac the Dragon, but I’ve also dabbled a bit with Carol the Wildcat and Milla the Hound. They all have different movesets that are familiar if you played the original game, but they’ve also added a guard option as well as additional cool features. Carol can now pocket her motorcycle to use at later times, and Milla can supercharge her green block gun!

You also have the option of starting a tutorial depending on which character you start as, if you want to get a better idea of how each character’s abilities work before jumping into the actual game. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far! And while it isn’t verified for Steam Deck, it might as well be! It runs without any issues and looks really nice on the screen, as evidenced by all of the above screenshots. If you liked the first game, and you like Sonic type games in general, I highly recommend this one.

The Swaggening

Finished the Skyrim video! Sadly I couldn’t find any reason to insert any animation into it… but I did put in plenty of m4d video editing skillz to make it more than just gameplay video with nothing going on. Now I’m copying over another Skyrim session to see if it merit’s any value, so far I always seem to find something worth keeping.

Of course, it’s my vacation now! I don’t plan to spend all of it doing video work and fondling my Steam Deck… I’m just gonna take it day by day, and enjoy it my way. It’s time to detox a bit, and enjoy life.

The Stabbings Will Continue Until Morale Improves

I just need to get through tonight, and then it’s vacation time! I’m not going anywhere, just taking some time off from work to relax, and give myself a bit of me time.

I finished doing the first trim of the Skyrim video! I’m still on the fence about animating it though… might go over that after work if I don’t decide to pass out or do something equally distracting; like playing Yakuza 0 on my Steam Deck. 😛

It’s Official

I’m proud to say that I have videos going all the way into the new year! There will be a video every week all the way until January! I just finished making a Quake 3 compilation last night, nothing fancy. Tonight I’m going through my eternal selection of Skyrim footage, and already I’m finding quite a few gems worth saving… and potential for some animation! I’ve been making so many normal compilation videos lately that it would be nice to get back into SFM. These more recent videos haven’t really called for any animation, but it would be nice to get a little more creative. Who knows? Maybe all the other videos I’ve been working on will buy me time while I learn other techniques.
