It’s been a quiet Sunday. Relaxed and read in bed, did a little Steam Decking, drank hot chai, got some rendering and animating done, and slapped together a picture for this Friday’s video! We’re doing #SeriousSam mixed with #TF2! Just need to doctor it up a bit in #Krita and it’ll be good to go!
Kicked off my weekend by playing Outland on my Steam Deck! It’s a fast paced side-scrolling platformer, where you learn to harness the power of light and dark to overcome obstacles and save the world yada yada yada. Also, it’s Linux native! Although you can run it in Proton if you’d like.
Took a break from animating to export some of my older projects in 4K! It’s going to be for a flashback scene. It’s fun (and cringy) looking over my old stuff. I can see errors, think about what I could have done to make it better, and even now I still have a lot to learn. I already know I’m going to be looking back years from now on the current project I’m working on, and I’ll still probably be thinking the same thing. Every time I look back on a previous project it’s a mix of how far I’ve come and WTF was I thinking when I made it.
I’m glad I didn’t have much to do before beginning my render. I didn’t sleep a fucking wink last night, and the night before I didn’t sleep well either. Yet somehow I still managed to send off my care package, tidy up, and keep warm with a render. If I don’t get some fucking sleep tonight I’m gonna be pissed. It’s like my body has decided that I slept enough during my vacation, why the fuck would I wanna do that now? Ugh…
My first day back went ok. Only issue I had was dealing with the Postal Service website… I’ve been trying to send a care package to a friend, which was first delayed when I got sick, and now that I’m back working it’s difficult to time getting to the Post Office. I thought I could print a particular label out for my package, but the options were limited compared to what I can request in house… grrrrr. I should be able to send it off tomorrow, but it’s still irritating.
Meanwhile… I’m inching closer to my next bit of rendering! I should be able to do an export in a day or two. Then I can render a flashback in 4K. Good thing I have all this rendering planned, it will definitely keep the house warm!
It’s been fun, but now I have to mentally prepare for the battlefront tomorrow. My Steam Deck is ready, clothes are selected, a shopping list planned, and other shit to slog through. It was nice to cool the engines for a bit, my creative side appreciates it!
Most people who know me are aware of my stance on social media. I’ve basically hated the idea since MySpace, and have always preferred self hosted options. One of my friends put together a small mastodon test server recently, and that gave me a good enough excuse to play around! Sometime in the not too distant future (this will have to be a weekend project) I will be looking into building one with my current domain behind it, but until then you can find me here. I plan to put smaller posts there that don’t really belong here, plus syndicating some of my content and other weird ideas. Feel free to follow me there if you use Mastodon!
I’ve been getting a lot of animation/rendering done just within the last couple of days. The rendering gave me some time to play on my Deck – progressing through games like Klonoa and a Sonic Racing game, games that are suitable for Deck! I did take a break earlier and played a bit of Neon White on desktop.
For the most part I’ve been going back to the earlier levels just to try and platinum as many of them as I can. So far I have more platinum than gold, not bad for this being my first true parkour game.
