In other news: IT’S STILL FUCKING COLD HERE. It’s really made me appreciate warm tea all the more though. I crushed demons a little in Doom Eternal before bed to warm up the place a bit, and vent a little. I got a tiny bit of animation done, but nothing worthy of screenshotting. But now I’ve taken my hibernation pills and it’s time to rest for another day of fuckery.

Attempted to play Deadpool on Steam Deck this evening. The good news is that it runs! The bad news is that it includes a free game of connect the dots. Either that or Deadpool is trolling me.
It rained today. I enjoyed a day’s worth of tea, and prepped for upcoming SFM scenes:
Other than that I messed around on my Steam Deck tonight, played a small game. I would have played on my desktop but wanted to cycle the battery. It didn’t get much play time last week and I wanted to make up for it. Meanwhile, my gaming laptop doesn’t get much use nowadays. Throwing 17 pounds onto my back has added up after awhile, and the Steam Deck has been a better traveling companion. I won’t be getting rid of my laptop, but I’ll probably convert it to a full Linux laptop. Almost everything I use works fine under Linux, and if I went that route that would leave my Desktop as the one last dualboot setup.
These are projects for another time though. It’s time for me to get some sleep while it still feels warm and comfy.
Spent the day continuing my exploration of Nevalis. Grabbed even more achievements, met more colorful characters, and found more colorful clothes!
I was searching for batteries to power a lift, and I kept finding trendy outfits instead. There’s still quite a bit for me to find, but I’m thinking a playthrough or two from now – and I’ll start on the City Of Ghosts DLC. It feels weird completing quite a few of these games, and it’s still February!
Finished my first playthrough of Cloudpunk! I’ll have to play through it again to get missed achievements and to see what happens if I make other choices.
Cloudpunk takes place in a dystopian cyberpunk world made entirely out of voxels. You play as a delivery driver for the company Cloudpunk. It’s quite simple: Make your deliveries, and don’t ask questions.
Cloudpunk has a beautiful city-scape with tons of areas to explore, even after finishing the game. There are also a lot of interesting characters you meet along the way, and well written dialogue that is surprisingly relatable. You also have chances to make your own decisions during your travels, giving it replay value. My only complaint is with some of the voice acting, and that’s only for a couple of the NPC’s you meet during your quests. For the most part it’s actually well done.
I’ve played this all in between my Steam Deck, Desktop and TV, and it looks stunning on all of them. It also remembers your screen resolution on each device! I can play it on a handheld without it changing the resolution on my other systems.
I give it a 4.5 out of 3.
Didn’t have time to do much playing, but I did advance the plot in Shantae: Half Genie Hero! The Dynamo has been built, an achievement has been acquired, and more quests have popped up for next time.
I also finished up another part of my ongoing animation project! It’s currently keeping the room nice and toasty (and not just in universe!). It’s looking like it will still be rendering when I go to bed, and it’s cold enough tonight that I have no qualms about using my RGB space heater. Next time I touch SFM I’ll begin prepping the next stage. I’m anticipating another month of strange imagery on the horizon.
It’s rare for us to get snow here on the coast, and when we do it usually vanishes by the next morning. This has been lingering around for a couple of days. I’m hoping it all passes soon, we’re not a white winter area… although it was fun playing in the snow for a bit. 😛 There’s snowmen all around town. I think the Canadian Military is getting ready to strike.
Played a bit of Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. I’m currently on Chapter 1 Normal Difficulty, and it reeeally throws the kitchen sink at you in Single Player. I’m getting through it though. These games tend to be even better with friends… DAMN YOU TIMEZONES.
Spent the last hour of the evening trying to gear myself towards achievements in Okami. I’m thinking after this romp I’ll be taking a break though, maybe play something completely different for my next session. Possibly something with a more humanoid form?
It all hasn’t been about play though, been getting a lot of animation done… unfortunately we keep coming up with other ideas to animate into the scenes. Damn our imaginations!!! I’m hoping to have something rendering in the next few days, which is good because that’ll warm the house and it’s supposed to be getting into freezing temperatures… FREEZING TEMPERATURES.
A couple years ago, I received an anime cookbook for Christmas. I haven’t really done much with it other than make really delicious honey ginger milk for tea, but this weekend I attempted to change that. I learned about a dish called Omurice, a Japanese breakfast dish inspired by western omelets! Basically you fry rice and then wrap it up in an omelet with ketchup drizzled on top. The ingredients are easy enough to gather and prepare, but the omelet is where I’ve been failing. During my first attempt yesterday I browned the omelet more than I should of, but it still tasted good. Today I got the color right, but it fell apart when trying to put it all together. I’ll probably need to watch some videos to get an idea for the technique. It’s tasty even if the omelet falls apart, but I want to get the presentation right. Instead of having mine with ketchup, I purchased a gingery Asian BBQ Sauce, and it all tasted sooooo good.
Between my Omurice attempts, drinking green tea, flowery aromatherapy and lots of Okami; it’s been a nice, relaxing weekend. I just need to finish it up with a matcha latte and then I can successfully call it a night.
