I Finished Bastion! (Or Did I?)

Finally finished Bastion! Well, got one of the two endings at any rate. Now that I’ve unlocked NG+ I’ll have to go back and get all the other swag and achievements I missed. Not even half of them are unlocked, something I’ll have to grind on an evening where I feel less tired.

Kid Just Rages For a While

Spent the evening conquering more trials in Bastion, and advanced the plot a tad bit. I’ve unlocked another proving ground that I’ll have to force myself to finish before hunting for the final shard. It took me awhile to win First Place on all of the other trials, but you’d be amazed at what you can achieve with the right power-ups and tonics.

I can tell this is made by the same team responsible for Hades. It has a specific level of hard that you can eventually overcome with enough practice and the right load-outs.  Usually I play it with a controller, but every once in awhile I felt the need to switch to a keyboard and mouse for some of those moments that called for proper precision. Though the winner is usually the controller, with the downside being that my hands cramp up after a good fight. Probably why it’s taken me awhile to advance things along, and why tomorrow I’ll probably play something else. 😛

The Kid Is At It Again

The last time I visited The Bastion it was back in January. It caught my eye on Steam Deck today, and I had plenty of time to kill during lunch. I collected a couple of shards before heading back to work, and completed a few of the proving grounds when I got home.

I think I completed three or four different proving grounds.., it feels like four, my thumb was endlessly spamming the B button on my controller until I was rewarded with prizes. Only three more proving grounds to clear, and a handful of vigils. Made note of that for my future self to finish it, as I’ll probably veer off in a different direction tomorrow.

Venus Flytrap Better Move Over…

For some reason playing all that Hades this week made me think about Bastion, it made for some very intense gardening. I guess this has been the week of roguelikes for me? (though this isn’t really a Rogue Like now that I think about it…) Either way I made progress, picked up a spear and some pistols, and moved between different battlegrounds.

Back To The Calamity

Bastion being welcomed by his sky fam.
When you’re here, you’re family.

Scrolled through my endless list of entertainment and decided to chill with some Bastion on Steam Deck! Apparently I’ve been away long enough that they threw me a small welcome back party!

Something Borked

I was tackling one of the Proving Grounds when it displayed this error. The .Net and Micrsoft XNA framework were enough to clue me in to the fact that it was defaulting to the Windows version, via Proton. Thankfully the native Linux build pulled through perfectly, and I was able to score 1st Place in one of the Proving Grounds.

This one was a real Mother to figure out. You have to destroy all of these targets, and if you want 1st Place you have to destroy all the targets with only 5 arrows. It was a pain in the ass, but eventually I nailed it! Now I’m giving my hand a break after attempting the Smashy Smashy Proving Grounds. I made 3rd and 2nd Place, but I can’t seem to smash 100 objects in under 27 seconds… perhaps if they were all watermelons I’d feel more inspired.
