I hope everyone is having, or had a nice holiday. I stayed in my Christmas PJ’s all day, enjoyed a good breakfast, opened presents and played a little Yakuza. My muscles are enjoying some rest — my ankle didn’t even give me any issues today!
Happy Hollandaise! I’ve done my holiday time – and now I can enjoy a three day weekend. I didn’t do anything too special; I worked on a future video, played a little NieR Replicant, and did a little photo editing in Krita. I’m looking forward to a few days of giving my ankle a chance to stop yelling at me; it seems to get angry once in awhile about the fact that I accidentally took a small spill down the stairs a few years ago.
I remember playing this at work one year before we opened, and it was so loud and horrible that a couple people from the otherside of the building came over because they thought someone was dying.
I hope everyone had a peaceful day, celebratory or not. I slept in due to sleep deprivation and the sound of rain. Enjoyed some holiday tea, opened presents, and even played one of them! Also caught up on a little Yakuza, figured it would be appropriate given the in game universe is set around Christmas season. I’m still waiting for packages to arrive, a couple of them go back to November. Fortunately I’m patient, and I’m double fortunate to have patient friends.
One of the games I remember receiving for Christmas when I was a kid was the original Tomb Raider. It was the only game that I had on both a console and a PC. To this day I still find reasons to return to this particular game, especially now knowing how moddable this game is. I found a full Christmas mod for the first original trilogy, and it felt right to start at the beginning with it to take in the full experience. I’ve recorded the stream, and will probably fashion it into a holiday video for next year if I have enough content. While I sit on this one and think about how to edit it, we can at least enjoy pictures from last night’s sight seeing:
From the mansion level to the main game, everything is covered in holiday cheer. The mansion has a custom winter skybox, as well as Christmas lights painted throughout the house. Even Lara is wearing her Christmas PJ’s, which for some reason bare her sequel… seems a tad narcissistic doesn’t it, Lara?
I’ve had to laugh at quite a few changes to the game. Wolves, bears, bats and even the skeletons have “Christmas Sweaters” painted onto their models, and we also have candy cane bridges and gates. Some to make you laugh, though there were others that made me scratch my head.
Anytime I swim underwater I keep randomly losing blood. My health isn’t actually going down, but for whatever reason blood comes out along with the bubble particles that are supposed to come out of her mouth. When you swim like this it seems like Lara’s Aunt Flo is having a visit anytime she goes for a swim. Truly this is a Christmas story that I will be telling for years to come. :zorak:
I think I found something to pick back up again when the holidays return once more. I’m definitely not going to finish this mod by the time Christmas is over, meaning I’ll have a new tradition to look forward to! I haven’t even scraped the tip of the iceberg with this mod, but I anticipate there will be much laughter as I continue through this version of the game, with plenty of eggnog chai in tow.
I wonder what other people have for holiday game memories? This one was by far one of the most memorable for me.
I hope everyone is having a good holiday. Mine was nice and quiet, opened presents, ate holiday candy, drank tea, and enjoyed not having to work. The only drama I had to endure was Humble Bundle’s failed attempts at gift receiving from another friend. For whatever reason I’m not getting Humble Bundle emails, and apparently this is a common issue mainly with people who use Microsoft’s email service, which is interesting since I run my own private email server. Meaning that if I want to receive games through humble bundle I have to have someone send the key to me straight.
I also made some more game purchases, both for myself and others. They’re downloaded and ready for whenever I’m ready. I was more in a Crash Bandicoot mood today… ok there was also a little Skyrim and Quake Champions… also visited TF2 long enough to get my free swag.
Tomorrow I’ll see about getting back into working on gamer porn, but not without having a little fun first.
For Christmas I get the next couple of days off. I had to work today, but went in a couple hours early (huge freight load) which I was happy about, the last couple of weeks have been unbearable with last minute shoppers who get easily outraged that we’re out of something. There was even someone who was aggravated that we weren’t open on Christmas day, or open all of Christmas eve… God forbid allowing us one fucking day a year to be with our friends and family on a holiday. Meh, I’m sure one of these days it’ll be taken away from us too like the other holidays. Only a matter of time…
I have a nice collection of gifts I’ll be unwrapping gifts tomorrow, and I’ll be in good company. Plus steak and lobster will be made, one of the few Christmas traditions we have upheld is the annual steak and lobster. I don’t have a tree to put my presents under, but that’s ok because I have a bookcase made of wood… so I hope that counts.
There was going to be a Vlog today, but Bioshock Infinite kept crapping out whenever I tried to Alt+Tab to set it up in OBS classic. I’ll try to aim for next Thursday or Friday, possibly both if I have enough time.
Speaking of time, there was none today. We received a ton of Black Friday freight on top of regular freight that had to be broken down. I remember last year and even earlier this year when a freight load was this large I was either scheduled or requested to come in early. But due to our shrinking numbers in people and hours that seems to be impossible, much like finishing up today. It was impossible, especially with every Tuesday being Geriatric Tuesday until Christmas.
That of course brought in some interesting people persons. There was one old man that grabbed a screen protector for an iPhone 6 and thought it was an iPhone. Another one wanted to know which iPhone case worked for her Samsung Galaxy Sky, and there were others. Between the excessive amount of merchandise and the constant traffic with a bare bones staff it just kind of ate at me. I can’t wait until Christmas just to get this damned stuff over with.
