Kickin’ Those Tires

It seems not many gamers look for the Relics in the Crash Bandicoot games, at least on PC. I got the “Kick the Tires!” achievement/trophy for earning 5 relics from time trial mode.Apparently, only 5% of players took the time to play in time trial mode. Kinda weird to think that something as easy as playing time trial to get an achievement for a handful of relics isn’t even taken into consideration. Gathering ALL of the relics? I could see that one getting skipped… but just five?

I called it quits after gathering 6. They’re all sapphire rank, not sure if I’ll have enough patience to get the gold or platinum ones.

Raiding Relics Before Raiding Relics Tomorrow

Snagged some relics tonight, a couple golds and a few sapphires. Some of these are going to be a pain to do if I want to get gold, or even platinum! It’s a good end to a good day, work wasn’t too bad and I even got to go out and have tea with a friend. I had a strawberry matcha milk tea and he had taro milk  tea. Also tried some of the potstickers on their new menu, reallly good.

In the meantime I’ve been looking at some gameplay clips from the new Tomb Raider Remaster coming out tomorrow. I might have to see if I can load it onto my Steam Deck before work tomorrow. 🙂 I’ll have an hour to myself at lunch tomorrow and that would be great to play on a handheld.

This Post Contains No Baldur’s Gate 3 I Promise

Actually managed to be productive today! Thanks to preemptive pain management, a good breakfast and about a gallon of tea I powered my way through some cleaning today. Not as much as I wanted to do, but enough to feel less claustrophobic.

Other than that I got a good chunk of animation done and played a tiny bit of Crash Bandicoot: Warped! Collected a few gems; two silver, one gold. Also did some time trials, managed to get gold status on a couple of them. I’m at 62% completion, one hour earlier I was at 58% Now that I’m a little over half way there I’ll probably visit a different game world tomorrow night. 🙂

Twice The Crashing!

I made time to do Crash on the couch with some Crash! I’ve been playing a little here and there, some on Steam Deck, some on Desktop, and tonight a little bit on a big TV.  Next time I play I’ll have some fun mods to look at. The Nexus seems to have more than the one for N.Sane Trilogy.

Of course, I’ve also been plinking away at Crash Bandicoot 2 in the N.Sane Trilogy, simultaneously yelling fuck at the screen constantly and having a good time. I’m trying to get all of the gems, when I played the original back on the PS1 I never did get all the gems. The gem hunting is making me a little tired, though. It’s been a long day, and a little bit of reliving my childhood helped me forget the stupid, for a little while anyway.

Leisurely Monday Open Thread

Today was pretty therapeutic! I woke up, made a nice breakfast, animated for a little, gave myself a small spa treatment and came out to a care package from a friend! The weather was also nice today for a change. It felt nice to sit out side, sip a little white tea and enjoy my Steam Deck for a bit. Played a bit of a Pac-Man game, and finished off the evening with a little of Crash on Desktop.

There was a lot of dying involved, despite all the times I said FUCK but I was patient about it. I managed to knock out a couple of levels. This is one of those games I like playing with a controller, even when I’m at my desk. Not all games feel right on a Keyboard and Mouse setup.

Another Saturday Of Crash

She’s about as thrilled with this level as I am.

To celebrate homing my attention span to one game for a week I decided to play Crash Bandicoot Warped on my Deck AND on my Desktop! That’s another game that runs extremely well on the Steam Deck, which is no surprise since under regular Linux it runs as if it were a native build! I’m thinking of chilling in Okami tomorrow. I made a bunch of progress last time and wanted to continue my adventures through the joy of painting. 😛

Crashing Out

Gave my desktop some much needed gaming love this evening with some Crash Bandicoot. This is another title that runs really well on the Steam Deck, and Linux in general. After one week of playing aboard the Steam Deck I think I’ve made a good purchasing decision! The battery life is good (depending on the game, don’t expect 4 hours out of Elden Ring), the system is lightweight and fast, and I’ve only had two games fail to run on it. Every lunch break is an adventure again! It’s also nice to just sit outside after work to get some fresh air, and goof off in a game for a few minutes before snapping back to reality.

It’s kind of funny to think about. I can play games on a TV with a controller, play on a laptop, a hand held, and at the comfort of my desk. All with one game library! No need to buy the same game on other platforms over and over again!

It’s Saturday… I’m Crashin’

I was feeling like a bit of platforming tonight, and decided to tackle the Dark Souls of platformers as some of my co-workers call it. I never played the original PS1 release of the first Crash (my first Crash game was the second), and while I’ve died a metric shit ton of times I can at least say I made it further than one of my co-workers (he couldn’t get past level 1). The first Crash Bandicoot game is basically an elaborate version of Simon Says that becomes more and more sadistic as you progress. It’s definitely a game that I have to take breaks from, just so I can have the patience to move forward a few levels.

Crashing For The Evening

Tucking the boi’s away for the evening.

Last weekend it went to the wolves (or at least Okami). This weekend I started off with a Crash… of the Bandicoot variety. I looked into uncapping the framerate, but read that certain boss fights didn’t work too well once going beyond 60FPS. On the bright side it looks beautiful in 4K with HDR turned on!

As much fun as I had tonight I already want to take a break from it. I’m thinking of playing something (or somethings) different tomorrow, perhaps even something I haven’t played before. It could possibly give me something to write about. 😛
