In Other News: People are still morons

I’m starting to think people are losing the meaning behind the word “emergency”. It isn’t an emergency if your favorite fast food joint runs out of chicken. It isn’t an emergency if facebook is down (and in many cases it’s probably a blessing). It isn’t an emergency if your jello has gone missing. And it CERTAINLY isn’t an emergency that PlayStation Network is down.

What happened to going to the website to see what the problem is? Or using a search engine? I never would have thought about calling 911 if say for example Steam went down.

Damn we have really let ourselves go…

What a day…

My attempt to sleep last night was met with failure due to some aches and pains. I only managed to sleep between moments when the painkillers did their dirty work. So for my first day back I was already exhausted.

Then afternoon hits and while I’m on my first break I heard there was an accident in our parking lot (and later on I heard it was on the crosswalk in front of the store so I’m not sure which location it happened in). Apparently a pedestrian got hit by a car, and from the sound of it the person in the car didn’t even stop because they really wanted that parking space. To make matters worse they blamed the pedestrian for not moving fast enough… An ambulance arrived on scene to take the poor guy away, but it was too late. We got a call back stating that he didn’t even make it to the hospital, he died not long after the accident. If all of this is true then this is downright manslaughter and hopefully this asshat gets their just desserts. It’s pretty sad that some people value a parking space or an object over the life of a living person. How we’ve fallen as a society.

Then I passed an asshole I didn’t really want to talk to (not to me but to people I do care about). But on the brightside I got off work early, but I couldn’t call home because our answer machine wasn’t working. So I ended up cruising the web waiting for a ride. I would have walked but it was pissing down rain and I didn’t want my laptop to get wet.

The first thing I did when I got home was jump into some PJ’s, make some berry tea and boot up Linux. I just finished eating a very bacon oriented dinner and now I’m contemplating some rest to make up for what I lacked today. Sleep away the terrible things and try to move in a more positive direction.

Special Snowflakes in May

As planned there were a bunch of customers and hardly anyone around. I have to say I got the nice tourists tonight. After closing though I passed some guy who was complaining that he wanted to go inside to buy batteries after we’ve already been closed and claimed that it was bad business to not let him in… and that he should be let in since there is already a line. I love people and their first world problems.

Speaking of first world problems I’m sure quite a few have already heard about that virgin dude who got upset about how women didn’t throw themselves at his feet.

He’s handsome but damn that attitude is just disgusting. Calling yourself “the perfect gentlemen”, “the perfect guy” etc etc is… disturbing. If you have to tell yourself you’re “the perfect guy” you have some serious problems. Enough for ladies to look at you and go “Helllll no”. Not so perfect anymore is he?

At least the parents notified the police ahead of time that he might have been up to something. But nothing really got done until 6 people got killed… I imagine if he were of another color/race things would have been nipped in the bud far sooner.

Get the duck out of here.

I’m really getting sick and tired of the Duck Dynasty thing. Lots of people in town (including co-workers) were extremely pissed off about Phil Robertson being thrown off the air, and have been rejoicing his triumphant return ever since but are still pissed off at how they would even think of oppressing a fellow Christian for his beliefs. One of my co-workers decided to ask my opinion on the situation which would prove later to be a mistake. I kept it light, basically telling him that they’re fakes. I explained to him the picture I found of them 11 years ago before the beards, and how it was obvious that they grew them out for TV. He defended that by saying “People do different things for TV” and I said “Yes, but it’s supposed to be a ‘reality’ show”, and then he tried to tell me that it was wrong for them to take him off the air because of “one thing”. Why are these people only focusing on the gay comment and not this comment:

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

I imagine that if I brought up this bit about marrying girls as young as 15 or 16 it would also fall on deaf ears. Yes, Phil Robertson mentioned this back in 2009 at a Christian retreat.

“They got to where they’re getting hard to find, mainly because these boys are waiting ’til they get to be about 20 years old before they marry ’em,” Robertson says in a video clip that resurfaced Monday. “Look, you wait ’til they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They’ll pick your ducks.”

Yeah, you wanna marry them while they don’t know the world from outside your toolshed. It doesn’t end there either:

“Make sure that she can cook a meal. You need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out. Make sure she carries her Bible. That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road,” he said.

It’s funny reading this then having to listen to people complain about how his religious beliefs got him thrown off of A&E. Yes, everyone knows that Christians in America are the most oppressed. All 70% of them… 🙄
