Of Heaven and Hell

It was another nice summer day that passed through. I woke up and enjoyed a Mediterranean quinoa bowl and picked up Hades for the first time in ages. I installed it onto the Steam Deck today, and as expected it runs to perfection. So far I’ve bit the dust 10 times, petted three headed doggo enough for an achievement, and cleared Tartarus… only to die and begin again once more. 😛

I did get to cycle some of the weapons. Played with the shield, a spear, played with the bow for a bit. For not having touched this one in awhile I think I did ok; I advanced the plot, made myself a bit stronger, enjoyed stabbing things, among other things.

Then later on in the day, when it started to cool I went to Heaven to get some Neon White Achievements and grab as many gifts as I could find. Did really well getting the Ace Medals, someday if I’m brave enough I’ll start going for the Dev Medals. They can only be obtained if you beat a level under a game dev’s completion time. I think I already have one that I got by accident.

Skipping Through The Spikes

For my weekend of decompression I had a nice Mediterranean omelette, blueberry tea and snacks throughout the day, and decided to return to Neon White. It’s been a few months, but I’ve moved to the third chapter, and went back and collected gifts and ace medals. Gained a couple of achievements along the way, learned a new card trick, etc.

I’ve played multiple genres over the years, but have never quite played anything like Neon White. I’m really savoring each session.

Little Kitty, Big City Demo: First Impressions

Apple Hat Kitty

Little Kitty, Big City is like a mix of Stray meets Untitled Goose Game. You play as a cat… but instead of it being a dramatic story about being a cat in a dystopian world trying to find your way to the outside world, you’re just a cat trying to get back to your apartment and finding shenanigans along the way.

Cat enjoying a good nap.
Enjoying a good nap

The game opens to our cat based protagonist having a small nap in their window spot. You wake up and inevitably fall to your doom, and end up landing in a trashcan. That’s when the cat adventures truly begin.

Despite being a cat you have a kitty themed to-do list. You’re too hungry to climb back up to your home, but a friendly crow made you an offer of one fish for 25 shinies or “shiny garbage” that the crow has offered to recycle… probably.

FOOD

In this universe there are humans you can rub up against, or trip and steal their swag at the speed of cat. Last night I stole someone’s cell phone, and today I used bread to attract birbs. Not to eat them, but for the currency of one feather each. Some animals will accept feathers and will give you something in return.

There’s a good chance that I’ll probably buy this on day one, or even pre-order it if the devs can deliver unto me a sacred watermelon hat to find in the game. 😛 The demo was a lot of fun to play, and I’ve already wishlisted the ever loving shit out of it. I’m looking forward to seeing how this comes along!

Back To The Calamity

Bastion being welcomed by his sky fam.
When you’re here, you’re family.

Scrolled through my endless list of entertainment and decided to chill with some Bastion on Steam Deck! Apparently I’ve been away long enough that they threw me a small welcome back party!

Something Borked

I was tackling one of the Proving Grounds when it displayed this error. The .Net and Micrsoft XNA framework were enough to clue me in to the fact that it was defaulting to the Windows version, via Proton. Thankfully the native Linux build pulled through perfectly, and I was able to score 1st Place in one of the Proving Grounds.

This one was a real Mother to figure out. You have to destroy all of these targets, and if you want 1st Place you have to destroy all the targets with only 5 arrows. It was a pain in the ass, but eventually I nailed it! Now I’m giving my hand a break after attempting the Smashy Smashy Proving Grounds. I made 3rd and 2nd Place, but I can’t seem to smash 100 objects in under 27 seconds… perhaps if they were all watermelons I’d feel more inspired.

Your (Sometimes) Friendly Photo Ninja

Decided to do something SLIGHTLY more modern tonight… and there was no skimping on alllll the stabbin’! I finished a couple of missions, earned a new weapon and some in game reading material for later. There was also an achievement for helping 100 demons do some acid… damage. Also, since I’m an awesome ninja I also snapped some pics in Photo Mode.

What can I say? I’m a sucker for Photo Mode. 😛

I Am Laser Moon

They’ve made a few changes to the Whisker Squadron Survivor Demo! I got to try out the new drone powerup, it gives you a drone that shoots a rocket every 10 seconds. They also added a barrel roll shield and added a new enemy.

Looking forward to the full thing!
