Day 1 Of Vacation Complete

My first day of vacation couldn’t be better. I pretty much stayed in bed half the day, hung out with friends in the Gmod cinema with bed and breakfast, and even had time to do a livestream tonight! I’ve been wanting to play Dam It for so long, and now I can say that I’ve tried it. Dam It is a campaign that was originally made by Turtle Rock Studios (creators of the original Left 4 Dead) and it was supposed to take place in between Dead Air and Blood Harvest. While playing through this it is quite evident by the amount of developer textures, empty spaces and invisible models. We were also going to check out a completed fan version afterwards but ran into technical difficulties. Still, I had fun. Then again I’m the kind of person that likes looking at the development and hidden things in games, like with Skyrim’s secret worlds and the craziness that was the Half Life 2 leak.

Sometime during my time off I will be looking at moving the websites(s) over to Digital Ocean, but first the private email server will be a top priority. I plan to tear into that in a few days… my body is currently in relax mode.

Here’s to a week and a half of not having to worry about selfish asshats!

Let The Gaycation Begin!

I did a couple Skyrim livestreams to kick off my vacation today! Might do some more tomorrow, tonight was fun playing with Melons in front of a larger than usual audience.

I’ve been packing my gaming laptop with fun stuff to do during the trip. The first two days are going to be a long stretch and I want to make sure I can keep myself occupied. I’ve even installed some multiplayer games on the chance Bro and I have time to play a game together at a hotel or something. I have a power inverter that is strong enough for my portable gaming rig, so I’ll have plenty to do assuming the movement of the car combined with whatever is on screen at the time causes me motion sickness.

Borderlands 2 Double Feature! Plus other stuff

Yutram and I pretty much had the weekend off together, and what better way to spend it than to tear into some new free DLC that recently released for Borderlands 2? It was so fun that we ended up doing an encore stream! We’ve finished it, or at least the main quest line. There are still quite a few side quests to complete.

I’m not sure why, but Unreal games (Borderlands series, AMID EVIL) that I’ve played so far don’t seem to like me stream and recording on the same system. Fortunately I have my laptop setup just in case something like this happens. There is this handy NDI plugin you can use if you have two computers in your house and a fast network connection. I streamed my desktop game to my laptop via OBS Studio, and had it livestream out to Twitch and YouTube… I’m contemplating Mixer too, but I’m not sure yet.

Aside from my own nerdy hobbies I did take the time to give myself a good breakfast, and even painted my toenails for the first time in years. Been wearing sandals moreso during the weekends due to the crazy summer weather we’re having. It was nice to have a relaxing weekend though, no pain or stress. I’m thinking next week I’ll do a little more cleaning, or perhaps some baking some breakfast muffins or something. I’m thinking of packing breakfasts for lunch since my appetite is pretty dead in the morning, and yet I still need some form of sustenance to keep going. If anything it could be an extra accompaniment to my daily yogurt lunch. I was also thinking about yogurt parfaits and smoothie bowls. For now I’m experimenting with some meal bars and shakes.

I’m thinking after work I’ll get back into animating the next video… maybe make an after work snack if I’m up for it.

EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER!!!!! Plus other stuff

As a way to chill Yutram and I decided to play a little bit of a custom L4D2 campaign during livestream this evening… big mistake:

While I like the aesthetic so far, the whole map seems difficult to navigate, and not just because of the endless hordes this game creams its jeans over. I like exploring levels, and they make it difficult in this game to do just that… I’m not sure if this is in the map design itself, the AI Director executing the commands, or a little of both. But I do remember a time when L4D2 didn’t use the endless horde routine, it seemed less boring to have random hordes instead of just an endless crowd.

Other than our misadventures in L4D2 I did finish setting up SFM under Linux the rest of the way this afternoon if I don’t get myself lost on “script writing”, or rather taking notes on which segments to animate, and how to start and end each video. Probably my most favorite part next to doing the animated portions.

But for now sleep needs to happen, that also seems to be when my brain becomes its most creative it seems… as most of the things that come out of it aren’t things that I would typically ponder during daylight hours.

Another dump of recent streams

I did two different ones yesterday:

For tonight’s stream we did more L4D2, but with the addition of mods. We did our old school admin shenanigans, and wandered the streets of Japan to try and complete a Daedric Princes’ shopping list.

Part of the stream appears to be missing on YouTube for whatever reason (at least at the time of posting this).. however you can watch the full version on Twitch if you want.

Sitting Blindman Hidden BAAAAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAANNNNNNNN

Had another Skyrim stream this evening. I think I’ve cut up enough footage that I can start taking a pen and paper to write up what madness I’ll unleash in SFM. I haven’t figured out which video project will be my main squeeze yet, though perhaps tomorrow I can draw up the blue prints and determine which one would be the most suitable. I’m thinking in the future of having polls for people to vote in to determine what video I could focus on next, but that’s still a ways off. I would need to figure out what the best method would be.. perhaps implement a polling system.

Something I’ll have to research at a later date.

Cutting film the days away

The last couple days have been pretty peaceful. I managed to de-tangle some jewelry, work mostly on my art and even did a bit of a livestream yesterday; unfortunately it was not without technical difficulties. I ran some tests today, and I’m thinking updating my GPU driver under Windows fixed it. The only thing I updated under there recently was OBS, and sometimes newer versions conflict with older drivers. I recorded Skyrim for about an hour and a half and didn’t get any crashes. Hopefully it stays that way next time I go to do a stream.

In case anyone is interested, here are the vids:

DOSBox: In Color

I forgot to post this from the other night:

We traveled back in time to an era where the internet was close to being a thing, the start menu hadn’t been invented yet, and people didn’t have smartphones to distract themselves with while driving. I had fun showing off a really old install of Windows with some After Dark screensavers. I kinda wish these would make a comeback, it was always fun to have something silly to look at in the background.
