Metal Gear Solids 1 2 and classic Metal Gear were released on GOG today, so if anyone wants to get a digital copy it appears to be available. From what I’ve read it isn’t a remaster, just the original PC releases. I’m not sure if they have been patched or not, but if needed I do know of a fan made MGS2 patch. Still, it would be nice to have a remastered edition just like Capcom did with their games. Konami is just letting Fox Engine is go to waste on pachinko machine animations…
I’m going to wait and see if it releases on Steam, if push comes to shove I’ll buy it on GOG. I’m getting them one way or the other.
I’ve been having another on and off week. They’ve been screwing every week and its been putting me off, not to mention that I’ve had a lot on my mind lately. I’ve put in to take a small bit of time off at the start of November, the place is wearing away at me moreso than usual.
I’ve also been pitching in with a computer project. My Dad built a computer out of his and my old computer parts (my old processor and R9-290 so its still rockin’) and we’re donating them to him. I’ve been working on it over the last couple of days getting emulators and some older games. We’ll have another one to add to our list of local card carrying PC Gaming Master Race card members. :v: I tried installing the PC version of MGS1 but kept running into errors despite applying the patched exe’s. Then I remembered that “Duh! Just use the PS1 version! You can tweak it to look better anyway!” But I noticed one weird thing when going through quite a few of the files with the datestamps specifying they were created on my birthday in the year 2000. I sense a conspiracy theory coming on…. here are some facts:
I was born the same year the first Metal Gear game came out
I hate seagulls
My copy of MGS1 has my birthday on a bunch of files
I like watermelon
My birthstone is a diamond
One of my best friends magically becomes Otacon whenever I pose an odd question in voice chat (and Jack Black in other forms of spare time)
I really like watermelon
I know my way around a cardboard box, even how to kill them
Did I mention that I hate seagulls?
My hair went from purple to white in a weeks time
I’ve had my chin scraped against pavement
Did I mention watermelon?
One of my nicknames was Major Tom (before I got promoted to Overlord)
I FUCKING hate seagulls
I think it’s time to just come out and face the music…
I dunno why it took me so long to figure it out. :morty:
When I finally get back to playing MGSV:TPP I’ll have to check out this mod. It adds more side-ops and new areas in Afghanistan. I’ve already installed it, now I just have to get around to playing it again. :v: Lately I’ve been trying to finish the shit show that is Devil May Cry 2.
Deciding to take a break from The Phantom Pain in my butthole (not a Chuck Tingle novel) I wanted to return to a couple other games. I played around a bit with Skyrim, but have been crashing constantly. With a friend’s advice I’ll install and uninstall a couple things in an attempt to solve it. I figured I’d save that for another day and instead went into modding MGR as I have plans to stream/record that at a later date,, after all with the attention I’ve been giving TPP it would make sense to cover MGR and the others.
I haven’t done too much to it yet. I mainly patched the game to run at 1440p and swapped the main model out for the one you see at the game screen as that one has higher res textures. There are some other mods I plan on adding too, like the unarmed mod and a couple others. Unfortunately this game doesn’t have much in the way of mods as compared to The Phantom Pain. If anything I see MGR pour into other games via mods rather than the other way around. It’s not like I go out of the way to find these mods either. They have a habit of finding me instead. :zorak:
Anyways, after tonight’s bit of play I can tell that I need to practice again, the controls feel kinda rusty to me… and I also need to practice with the Steam Controller. Something about making exact slices with the Steam Controller just sounds so… therapeutic.
On another note here is a fun fact: Both The Elder Scrolls and Metal Gear series both have Grey Fox one way or another. :v:
Today I decided to tear into Street Fighter X Tekken. Had a bit of a rough start though, for whatever reason the game needed GFWL to function and the version it installed was borked. Fortunately someone had a solution involving XLive.dll. Adding that to the root directory of the game fixed it without having to install a newer version of GFWL, which is perfectly fine with me since I try to keep as little cancer on my systems as possible.
Anyways I modded the hell out of the game. There are quite a few model/costume replacements you can download for it, here are some of my selections:
There are many many more model replacements I can (and plan to) download, including Solid Snake, The Joker, Col Sanders, Princess Peach, etc etc etc. I’d have more to showcase but some of the download servers they’re kept on limit you to 1 download per 180 minutes unless you use their pay service… :S I can afford to wait. I plan to move this to the HTPC so I can play it on the couch. I’d stream it but I’ve been having issues with that between the desktop and the HTPC lately, which is odd considering my laptop and desktop can see each other, and the laptop and HTPC can see each other, but getting the desktop and HTPC to talk to each other results in epic fail… Oh well, it’s not like this game leaves a huge footprint or anything.
