Quake Champions Livestream

Kicked off the weekend by Livestreaming some Quake Champions:

Despite getting our asses handed to us on a silver platter we managed to have a good time. I might even do another one tomorrow. I got some more work done on the videos, and I’m deciding to keep them as two part videos. To keep a consistent release schedule (somewhat) I’m not going to release any video until I complete both parts. But if anything good comes up (such as pictures) I’ll post it here on the blog, or on the Steam Chat or Discord.  But now that I’m on my weekend I’ll be taking a break from my project and focusing on other things… like maybe a game to play. I haven’t really done much playing apart from the last couple of multiplayer mishaps with Yutram. I haven’t had much of a chance to use my gaming laptop at work, been grocery shopping during my lunch breaks so I won’t have to do it after work when the entire place is flooded.

Now, it is time for me to meditate sideways.

Two days of pain, one day of joy

I pushed myself into Windows today with the idea of playing a game in my library that I haven’t played before. Give myself a break from video making, if only for a day… So I figured I’d give the newest Soul Calibur a shot:

All Praise To The Melon Goddess

Most of my time was spent in character creation seeing what all the options were, and I finally settled on this appearance. It’s kinda sad… I spent two hours in the game and most of it was on the character creation screen. I guess next time I play this I’ll be ready at least.

I also decided to chillax in Quake Champions with Yutram. We found a new mode called AAArena, where everyone is B.J Blazkowitz with lightning guns. Apparently when it comes to anti nazi’s with lightning powers Yutram and I are gods of thunder.

We have always joked about being the same person… :melon:

Weekend Open Thread: Bethesda Owns My Ass Edition

Despite the nice crisp weather I’ve been feeling under the weather today… I can’t tell if if its allergies or the cold going around… or if I’m just sleep deprived which is a huge possibility I’ll try to sort soon (though I’ve found some nice foolproof sleeping aids if you know what I mean :v: ). But other than feeling a little off I had a nice chill day. Played a little bit more of Fallout 4, and even managed to do a little bit of Quake Champions with Yutram for awhile. We tried out different game modes and ended up annihilating each other other over separation anxiety due to the fact that it kept placing us on separate teams… and not being able to read the damned dark red font over everyone’s head. As usual there is footage involved, but the question “will it ever see the light of day?” looms over it.

Aside from that some of the other modes were fun. I’ve always been an old school style Deathmatch or gone for some TDM, but I did have a bit of fun with Sacrifice, Hot Rocket and the gamemode that spawns you as different people. Oh! Slipgate was fun too. Though chasing that red anus sometimes got confusing, though I guess that depends on the map doesn’t it…

Here’s to me waking up without half my face feeling like its on fire.

Weekend Open Thread

With another work week coming to a close I had a nice nap, a little time in the Gmod Cinema, and then a stupid DOOM Slayer match in Quake Champions of our own creation.

One of these dudes is not like the other.

We had a warmup match with all the bots on medium. I wanted to start another round on hard just to see what chaos would ensue, but after a couple attempts it wouldn’t let us connect to a dedicated server. That’s one shortcoming I have with Quake Champions, the inability to go through a server browser and select your own game like in other games released within the last decade. Everything is streamlined these days to work on company servers, but what happens when those are no longer supported? I’m seeing this as more of a trend in newer multiplayer games and I don’t like it. People should be able to run their own dedicated servers if they so choose. This is why to me I’ll always cherish Quake III Arena and consider it the superior game compared to Champions. It’s still an active game despite being almost a couple decades old, servers still exist and the modding community is still as alive as it ever was. Champions isn’t a bad game, and is quite a lot of fun to play. But for this being one of Bethesda’s fewest PC exclusives it’s just a stripped down version of Quake III with a modern paint job and super powers.

We are the Quake Champions, my friends.

I haven’t played Quake Champions in quite some time, they’ve made great improvements since the early beta stages. I can tell they’ve optimized it quite a bit, no random lag spikes. No freezes while opening my ungodly collection of free loot boxes. I had a good time, even though I was stuck in third place at the end of each round I played. I was soooo close to staying at the top too. I blame fatigue and lack of multiplayer FPS’s outside of Gmod… My schedule has made me quite the introverted gamer.

Remember that you can still pick this up for free until the 19th, you just have to play one round. :zorak:
