Tears of Gaming

Spent some time in Crystar tonight, as part of the remainder of my weekend self care! I finished a couple more chapters, gained a new friend, and learned a bit about some of the souls I’ve been killing. All in all? A productive evening I’d say.

I have to admit, I do like the shining visuals of the labyrinth that is this universes purgatory. I wish I could say more about the combat… Crystar’s combat system very clunky, and leaves a bit to be desired. The fighting gets a bit repetitive; you spawn into purgatory, destroy lost souls and wander finding lost memories until you find the exit and finish your mission. I’m glad they at least gave me an extra character to help add a little variety.

Her name is Kokoro. I teamed up with her, she has some amazing fisting abilities. The voice acting in this game ranges from Ok to B Grade Anime voice acting. I’m thinking next time I play to see if I can load the Japanese vocals instead, just to see how well they compare to English… when I feel the in the mood to play again. :v

It’s Been Unreal

Took over my first bandit camp! It was fun picking all of them off before finishing off the few stranglers from within the hold. This is where I parted ways for a Coop adventure.

We completed The Ditcher quest, it ended about how I expected it to. We also cleared out a few bandit camps, collected some shrine pieces and explored new territory. Once again the Unreal Engine has done a good job consuming my weekend. :v

On the last session I earned a new face plate! I’m thinking this one is my fave so far. It gives me Mortal Kombat vibes.

The Proving Has Been Proven

We had a nice summer day of about 25C today! It gave me the perfect excuse to take a break from my desk so that I can take care of other things… like fixing buttons on a shirt, indulging in some kashmiri green chai while doing some e-shopping for my pantry, and Horizon Zero Dawn on my Steam Deck! I survived The Proving after some trial and error (with a side of fucking around).

I got about an hour of play out of it, which seems to be the norm with Unreal Engine games – especially the graphically intensive ones. I wonder how long it’ll be before I play it again? It’s one of those games that I keep meaning to get back into, but can’t seem to in my endless sea of entertainment. Still, the small break was nice. 🙂

My Digital Weekend

Finished another chapter in Neon White! Also scored some gifts and advanced the storyline a bit. I wanted to have a little fun before going crazy in SFM a bit later with this piece:

I’ll start putting the video together tomorrow, should be pretty easy – should have it wrapped up and ready to can tomorrow! Then I can move onto the next thing… what might that be, I wonder? 😛

Tonight when Yutram showed up the stars were perfectly aligned for us to venture into The Wonderlands! We completed a couple of quests, were cursed with eternal fabulousness and gained a few achiev-o’s along the way. I’m hoping we pick back up on these adventures again, we were gone for so long that we forgot what needed to be done! 😛

We’ve Destroyed Machines Beyond Counting

It’s been awhile since I’ve played NieR Automata. I took a break during my 9S playthrough to play through Replicant when it came out. I’m glad I did, while not a requirement to it does make it easier to spot references in the overall story. Now might be a good time for me to get back into it; the modding community has been adding some fun stuff:

I visited the nexus and found quite a few things that I’ll have to add once I (someday) finish my first playthrough! They’ve added a couple new areas, a bunch of model replacements for weapons, outfits and models. With the right amount of mods I might consider doing a livestream with it! But for now it was fun to hack n slash tonight, and since I’m currently playing as 9S it’s more like hack n slash, and just hacking… I don’t mind playing as 9S, but the hacking games get really repetitive really quickly.

Back To The Calamity

Bastion being welcomed by his sky fam.
When you’re here, you’re family.

Scrolled through my endless list of entertainment and decided to chill with some Bastion on Steam Deck! Apparently I’ve been away long enough that they threw me a small welcome back party!

Something Borked

I was tackling one of the Proving Grounds when it displayed this error. The .Net and Micrsoft XNA framework were enough to clue me in to the fact that it was defaulting to the Windows version, via Proton. Thankfully the native Linux build pulled through perfectly, and I was able to score 1st Place in one of the Proving Grounds.

This one was a real Mother to figure out. You have to destroy all of these targets, and if you want 1st Place you have to destroy all the targets with only 5 arrows. It was a pain in the ass, but eventually I nailed it! Now I’m giving my hand a break after attempting the Smashy Smashy Proving Grounds. I made 3rd and 2nd Place, but I can’t seem to smash 100 objects in under 27 seconds… perhaps if they were all watermelons I’d feel more inspired.

Sunday Slice n Shoot

We did our Sunday Wonderland romp as per current tradition. Helped some Goblins, and killed some Goblins, found more dice and other huge loot receptacles to destroy. I’m Level 39 with up to 60 backpack slots. This was probably our longest run so far – we played from early evening to twilight, it’s just so magical!… literally! Think I’ll be able to make it till next Sunday for the next part of our journey.
