Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

After five days of surviving stupid, it was nice to have one of nothing but rest! I made an egg and bacon sandwich with some miso soup, and I got some fresh air outside while playing a little bit of ICEY! It’s still as hard as I remember it being, though I’ve uncovered another area I haven’t been to yet. I got my ass kicked enough that I decided to break for now.

Also progressed further in Shadow Of The Tomb Raider on desktop! Though it was mostly back tracking for items, I did manage to solve a tomb I missed. Plus I got an achievement for completing 8 side quests! It felt nice to just have a day of play in any way. 😛

Because One Day Of Raiding Tombs Wasn’t Enough

I guess I had so much fun exploring yesterday that I decided to continue onward with more tomb raiding! It was mostly backtracking for crates, and a couple challenge tombs here and there. It was an immersive escape from reality anyway. I think I’ve had my fill of it for now though, have to move onto the next thing.

Tea & Tombs

I treated myself to some luscious 4K HDR graphical fun tonight, made some progress, etc. If there’s anything I like in this game it’s the scenery. It kinda reminds me a lot of the local foliage I’d encounter when exploring the local woods and rivers. Ahhh, good times.

Other than that it’s been a quiet Saturday. I slept in, gave myself a bit of a spa day, detox’d the day away with green tea, and treated myself to clean bedding. I can’t complain.

Shadow Of The Game Library

I broke down and played something tonight. I wanted to play a game that would really stress test the card, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider delivered. I managed six achievements worth of progress. I did a private livestream with one of my friends. Together we both praised and ridiculed the game for its strengths and weaknesses, solved a puzzle here and there… etc.

I was treated to a drug influenced nightmare sequence that could rival any Max Payne nightmare sequence I could recall from my childhood. Happened just around bedtime too! Time to look at kittens to try and omit the inevitable weird dream that awaits my tired imagination.

New Year’s Resolution: Still at 2560x1440p but with FreeSync

Bed & Breakfast Curry

Happy New Year! I’ve been too busy to write, lots of work and real world related stuff. I wasn’t feeling too particularly well yesterday either. I ended up mostly making comfort foods like Breakfast Curry and Pad Thai, played a couple games to relax, enjoy a breakfast in bed for a change, etc. I didn’t feel as bad today; I even tidied things up a bit, moved my Christmas stuff to the pantry. I got a lot of teas, sauce mixes and soup mixes among a bunch of other stuff that I haven’t even touched yet, but when I do I’ll be sure to write about it. So far all the Asian stuff I’ve made has been from scratch. I also want to go over the packaging details, as I’ve found a few things of the Engrish variety on certain products that are quite amusing.

DOGGO

I updated The Phantom Pain recently, both the game and the mod manager. I’ve installed some mods that will make for fun future gameplay. I just felt the call to go back and Cardboard Box sled again and invite Russian soldiers to my slumber party in the middle east. I’m very close to inviting Huey to my party, and I have a special place set aside for him.

Gonna fuk sum sheet uwp.

Revisited SOTR for a little too. A bunch of my friends bought it during the steam sale, or have waited for the Definitive Edition update to roll out before playing it and I started to get a bit of the itch to go back again and play. I finished a challenge tomb, but now I’m stumped on how to get to the next waypoint. I’ll have to ponder at it awhile and return to it later.

This is what eye cancer looks like kids.

While I wasn’t well enough to stream last night; Yutram and I did spend some time together playing in Doom SnapMap. There were both great and terrible maps to play from “This isn’t half bad” to “Did they even try?” to “What were they snorting when they made this?”.

I found a new universe.

I decided to try Sunset Overdrive today. I bought it a couple sales ago but never had a chance to try it. I remember watching one of my co-workers play a demo of it at work while stress testing a TV, and it looked fun enough for me to try. I think I’ll save this one for a thread of its own, but for now if you’re on my Steam friends list you’ll see I took some porntography of the game.

I’ve also been entertaining the idea of upgrading my CPU to a 3rd gen Ryzen and my monitors to FreeSync. I got a surprise bonus check last month from work, and the extra holiday pay and overtime are going to help pay for it. The 3950x looks pretty slick, and it would bump up my current setup by 50%. Livestreaming, gaming and video rendering would load much faster, especially now that I’ve found that I can increase the amount of threads to use when exporting in Source Filmmaker. Such an upgrade would be quite beneficial, and I can sell my Dad the old processor, and they can finally get off of x58 and live happily ever after. :melon:

Adventuring through Paititi

I can file Tomb Raider games under my list of games to play while not feeling entirely well or coherent. Over these last few days I’ve felt really ill. In one part due to the tree being removed from our house, all the sawdust and the rot from the center of the tree probably isn’t doing me any favors… My entire weekend was pretty much spent in bed. Today I’ve still been fighting with sinuses and other types of pain… Fortunately I’ve been keeping well medicated, but enough about my own problems… Back to things that distract me from physical agony.

I’ve been having a romp around Paititi for the last couple of days. Mainly searching for whatever isn’t nailed down, and discovering side quests and other stuff along my travels. Tonight I actually progressed further into Paititi, even managed to kill someone performing sacrificial rituals… the most unfabulous ritual of all… I’ve also been playing a bit with Photo Mode. It’s alright I guess. I do like taking scenic pictures as well as the occasional in game selfie in adventure games, so it all works out I guess. I’ve invested about 16 hours into this game so far, and now that I’ve thought about it this seems like quite a tradition I celebrate every year. Around this time I was having fun in Rise Of The Tomb Raider, and before that playing the first in this particular trilogy. While I still prefer the originals, there is definitely something that hooks into me and keeps pulling me back into this newer set.

Coincidentally they did release The Forge DLC today. I haven’t had a chance to visit it yet, nor have I ventured into coop. Perhaps when the planets align I’ll play with another human being.

Productive day is productive

Got quite a bit accomplished today. Birthday packages have been mailed, my share of the rent has been paid, and I even managed to progress in Shadow Of The Tomb Raider AND get some animating done in SFM. I don’t want to go into details on what it was but I was laughing my ass off at the animation… I don’t know if its because of how stupid it looks, but I like it enough that I’ll be keeping the style in the final product. If I start up again tomorrow I should have all the animation portions sorted tomorrow.

A Series Of Tombs

With the weather being cold today it felt nice sitting indoors, drinking a hot beverage, and playing games to keep warm. Shadow Of The Tomb Raider does a good job of making my fans spin much like the other two games in the trilogy.

I’ve also been wanting to play Tomb Raider 3 again, but every time I try to play it I run into one problem or another. During my last attempt I could only look left to right, and the forward button was the number two for some reason with there being no button to go backwards… and when I try to change the key bindings the game just crashes despite trying out different compatibility modes. For the hell of it I tried to run the game under Linux via Proton and surprisingly had better results (though the cutscenes never play properly). I was even able to run it with the proper widescreen patch at 1440p, making old Lara look less stretched out on the screen. Speaking of old Lara I didn’t know it was possible to mod the original game:

This person has a bunch of other mods on their YouTube channel that replace the regular Lara with other versions of her, as well as some other abominations. Definitely worth a look, I might even have to install some of them for my own personal enjoyment. 😛 Would probably be fun to stream/record too.

Forgive me wallet, for I have sinned.

I bit the bullet this morning and made my purchase. I figured that getting the entire game for $58 is better than paying full price for just the base game. I’ve already played a bit of it and my system handles it quite well with everything but tessellation turned on. I made it past the day of the dead festival, and now I’m saving it for a later date. Find something else to do for now…
