It’s been a little over half a year since I went brawling in Soul Calibur VI, but I managed to knock some of the rust off of my play-style. It took me an eternity to defeat Collossus, but afterwards my battles were either easy or a slight challenge.
On this playthrough I managed to cross paths with Geralt. Unfortunately his Witcher skills were no match for my bitchin’ skills. This session went a little longer than I planned for it to be, but since I haven’t touched the game since July I don’t feel too bad about it. 😛
I’ll make up for it this weekend by getting started on my next animated project! 😀
I’m not entirely sure how, but when I opened Soul Calibur VI on my desktop it acted like it was the first time I launched the game! My character was nowhere to be found, luckily I still had the save on my Steam Deck. I launched it on Deck to make sure it was still there, and then closed the desktop session, followed by the Steam Deck session. This way the uncorrupted Steam Deck save would push my Desktop! I would have hated to start from scratch… instead I made it to Level 50!
Continuing to level up in Soul Calibur VI! Played a bit between lunch break on Deck and a little bit before bed. I find that if I keep getting pummeled into the ground that it’s a good indicator to get some shut eye.
One last screenshot of Soul Calibur VI before heading back to reality tomorrow. Made it to Level 43! If I have time tomorrow I’ll probably give SC6 a break and maybe try to finish Shantae: Half Genie Hero, unless a plot twist crops up. This was my personal reward for starting an SFM render. I’m hoping to have things wrapped up by late April or early May.
Made it to Level 27 in Soul Calibur VI! I started playing it on my Deck this morning, moved over to the Big Screen TV PC in the afternoon, then finished off on my regular Desktop. It’s nice to be able to progress in a game that I only have to buy once, and I can enjoy it in a multitude of ways. I did more reading up on the modding scene for Soul Calibur VI, and it looks like it has quite the modding community! That’s something I’ll save for another post. I had a wonderful time mashing buttons to my hearts content.
Then later this evening my ol’ buddy Yutram and I dipped our toes into the world of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. It was just the right price during the current Steam Sale, so it only made sense to give it a shot. After all we did enjoy Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon Keep (Which if you haven’t played it yet, you totally should), so why not?
Unlike the previous Borderlands games, you can make your own custom character from scratch, which can produce some interesting results. Especially when you travel the Overworld:
We had such a fun time casting spells and collecting enchanted weapons, we made it to Level 4! We’re only just starting off but this already is looking like a lot of fun. It captures the humour of previous Borderlands games – I always like listening to the ridiculous lines the enemies spout as they’re attacking, they probably had the most fun writing up all the dialogue. We’ll have to make another play date for this soon!
I forgot how fun the character creation in SoulCalibur VI is! My old save evaporated and I was forced to begin from scratch, but I still had fun in the process.
I’ve already made it back up to level 13, and for the most part I remember how to play. I spent a bit of time with it on Steam Deck tonight as well; apart from a graphical glitch in some of the fighting cutscenes it is very playable on Deck. I’ve decided to keep it on there – maybe if I keep playing it between the two systems I’ll be able to finish it. Perhaps I can turn it into a fashion show in the process. :v
Played Soul Calibur VI with Yutram tonight, with me hosting it over Remote Play. Other than some controller spazzing on Yutram’s side (either that or the overall latency between the two of us) it went rather well. It was nice to do something a little different this evening, laughing at different characters and their death/orgasm screams. I think next time we might have to play with custom made monstrosities.
The rain convinced me to stay in pajamas today, and to play a game in bed for awhile. Leveled up a bit more in Soul Calibur IV, and I also decided to go back into Yakuza 0. I started a game of it almost a year ago and never got back to it! This ends today…. or tonight rather!
This is the first game I’ve played in the series, and while the cutscenes seem kind of long I do find them to be a nice break on my hand (all those combos); they also do a good job conveying what’s going on. Kiryu (the character you play) was hired to rough some dude up in an alley way, and you do exactly that… there’s just one problem. The guy you rough up gets shot, and you’re framed for it.
I won’t go into the story too much; other than to say that it’s one hell of a ride so far. I feel like I keep going further and further down a rabbit hole, pieces of the puzzle are in front of me, yet not enough to paint a full picture. I had to take a break from fisting an entire board room of Yakuza who wanted some of my sweet ass, as my right hand was starting to cramp up. But I had a hell of a fun time.
My only complaint about the game so far is the minimap. I don’t know if its just me, but I have a difficult time following it to my destination. I keep making sure to try and stand in the right place, and looking over to the top right of the screen to make sure I can move forward. If anything I had a harder time with that than the actual gameplay.
It also dawned on me that there are a few minigames that I could play with another friend! Might have to have a Yakuza bowling night sometime!
I pushed myself into Windows today with the idea of playing a game in my library that I haven’t played before. Give myself a break from video making, if only for a day… So I figured I’d give the newest Soul Calibur a shot:
Most of my time was spent in character creation seeing what all the options were, and I finally settled on this appearance. It’s kinda sad… I spent two hours in the game and most of it was on the character creation screen. I guess next time I play this I’ll be ready at least.
I also decided to chillax in Quake Champions with Yutram. We found a new mode called AAArena, where everyone is B.J Blazkowitz with lightning guns. Apparently when it comes to anti nazi’s with lightning powers Yutram and I are gods of thunder.
We have always joked about being the same person… :melon:
