Today was an all work day. Still on vacation, but worked on my video and other things on a foggy/rainy evening. I’ve still been fighting on and off again nausea, in fact I didn’t feel inclined to play anything today. The good news at least is that I do have a video ready to go! I even got to play a little with some green screening!

Late Night Open Thread
It turns out one Broforce session is enough for me to make a decent sized video footage wise. I’ll have to sleep on how I want to piece this one together, and talk over a good way to end the video, while at the same time I’m also thinking most of the video will be gameplay footage… these games pretty much do all the entertaining.
Giving Myself A Heart Attack
I did a big oops recently. I saved a good chunk of my Windows and Linux data folders, but somehow when I transferred my Home folders over to another drive my Shotcut projects didn’t make it. Fortunately I had an even older backup from when I did a Mint reinstall for the previous build. It’s a bit more raw but I won’t have to do nearly as much work. I still don’t know how I missed those fucking files, maaaan was I livid. I probably would have said fuck it, saved the assets for later and moved onto the next project out of frustration. My previous save is a little more raw compared to what I had back in Mint, but it’s all a matter of just piecing things together and playing with audio levels. At the very least I managed to save all of my assets.
On the plus side I rendered the above video clip (the “cold opening” to one of the Skyrim videos) at 1080p 60fps with Lossless settings using the h.265 codec, and had it complete in about 3:25 minutes; safe to say that the 3900x is doing a good job.
It’s Starting To Look Like A Thing
I was going to post something about this last night, but ended up collapsing in a bed instead after a hard day of work and a little bit of film editing. If all goes well I should have it wrapped up in a day or two. All the clips are in place… however there are other tweaks that need to be made before a proper export can be done.
So, about that bed…
Evening Open Thread
I’ve been doing a good job of wearing myself out these last couple of days. Instead of writing something here I was focusing on writing an ending for one of my upcoming videos with the help of Yutram and inspiration from a couple other things. You can also expect a Skyrim video this weekend, full of animated craziness. The New Year’s video is almost done too, just need to put a finishing touch on it before the final export.
My Christmas shopping is pretty much done for the most part. I’m at the point where I’m waiting for a couple items to show up, and then I can wrap things up and send them out… hopefully this weekend if the planets align in my favor.
Open Thread!
Cool the engines
I’ve officially finished up my videos! I will be releasing them next month, in the meantime I’ll start prepping for the first portion of the Skyrim saga. The first livestream session I’m picking through merits about four separate videos worth, already went through and wrote down a list of goofy things to animate for each one.
Tomorrow I’ll do a tiny bit of SFM, but I think I’ve earned a game break. I’ve been working on these videos ever since getting back from the trip, and I think I’ve earned some playtime. For now I’m just doing a little rearranging of some of my recordings before hitting the sack, making room for possibly more tomorrow. On the off chance that I do stream I’ll try and pick something Halloween themed, or at the very least mod a game into a Halloween utopia.
I can breathe
I’ve pretty much been sick with hay fever since last weekend, between that and work becoming more and more of a pit of everlasting despair I’ve been mentally and physically wiped. I spent a good chunk of the morning in bed today doped up on antihistamines, and trying not to gag from this damned sinus infection. After some rest I’m feeling a little better now. Maybe I can actually do something to make up for the first half of my weekend going to shit.
I did manage to complete my video! But it wasn’t easy… For some reason when I went to export the video it would die at around the 56% mark when rendering under Shotcut. I tried all kinds of tricks like lowering the resolution, changing from one preset to another, among other tricks, but it wasn’t until I added a blank video track that I found success. Finally, I can sleep knowing I did one thing right today.
Project Diary: Getting closer to finishing
Got most of the polishing done! Also managed to do a small recording session with Yutram and did a little photoshopping. I even took a nap earlier in the day, felt nice. Been snacking on pralines all day, think that might be my current sweet addiction. I was thinking of using them in a muffin recipe, but ended up eating the entire tin by mistake (small tin but still). My muffin experiment will have to wait another day…
I may or may not make a post tomorrow. Things are looking pretty busy.
Cutting film the days away
The last couple days have been pretty peaceful. I managed to de-tangle some jewelry, work mostly on my art and even did a bit of a livestream yesterday; unfortunately it was not without technical difficulties. I ran some tests today, and I’m thinking updating my GPU driver under Windows fixed it. The only thing I updated under there recently was OBS, and sometimes newer versions conflict with older drivers. I recorded Skyrim for about an hour and a half and didn’t get any crashes. Hopefully it stays that way next time I go to do a stream.
In case anyone is interested, here are the vids:
Video Editing Diary: One down and 1.7TB to go
I got through my Crash Bandicoot livestream footage tonight! It looks like I have three videos worth to come out of that. Tomorrow I think I’ll tackle my Deadpool gameplay. I’m not entirely sure if that one will be salvageable. I remember we had a hard time riffing that one due to the fact that the game itself is self aware. If not I’ll have plenty of other footage to go through. I had a look at my main recording drive and found that 1.7TB of my 2TB drive has been consumed by video footage. A few more streams and I’ll have to pull out one of my other blank drives to continue recording. 😛 It’s one way to ensure I have plenty of content to work through, that’s fer sure. :melon:
I was a bit bummed this afternoon. My SSD arrived in the mail, and to my disappointment it was a 512GB module instead of the requested 1TB. I’ve already scheduled a return with Amazon. My Linux SSD install will just have to wait a bit longer, fortunately I have plenty to occupy my time as it is. :rick:
