First Yogurt Parfaits Of 2021

Portable Yogurt seems to be my prime goto during the week when I grow bored of breakfast in bar form. You can use pretty much anything for a container, but I prefer these yogurt cups. They come with a dome for storing cereal, or other kinds of toppings.

I’ve reached a point with my workday parfaits that I don’t need to even look at recipes, unless I’m looking for flavour inspiration. I almost always use oats with these things. One scoop per cup does the job.

Equal parts milk and yogurt come into play; sometimes I’ll also do straight yogurt, but I prefer it to be kinda like a smoothie bowl. In this case I’m using regular milk and honey sweetened greek yogurt, as greek style yogurt is DUMMY THICC on protein. Then of course comes flavouring my canvas. For the two parfaits I made I decided the base would be my matcha/monkfruit powder.

I like to use chia seeds whenever possible. They’re a great thickener if you want your breakfast to have a pudding like consistency, and have plenty of nutritional value. Plus they add a nice crunch.

Mixed in a different fruit into each one. The one on the left got the blueberry treatment, and for the other one I tried dragonfruit. I ate that one today, and I’m thinking if I go to use it again to add a second fruit like strawberry to it for added flavour. Dragonfruit is good for you, really high in fiber, but at least in frozen form it’s quite lacking in taste. I’ll be looking forward to some blueberries and matcha tomorrow, that particular set has become a regular staple and a good combo with matcha. Both green tea and blueberries are rich in antioxidants.

To top it off I added fruity granola for additional crunch. Eating one of these gives me enough energy to power me up until I go home for the day, and I like them because they’re easy to make ahead. This is probably my favourite breakfast lifehack.

Food Thoughts For Thought

I’ve been continuing to experiment with yogurt parfaits. While I like them they are still very liquid based, including the THICC Greek variants. Adding granola doesn’t seem to help absorb much, though adding pulverized oats to the parfaits thickens them up kinda like a pudding, and I feel even fuller for longer without having to piss like a race horse. The first two days are cocoa parfaits; one is a chocolate cinnamon crunch parfait and the other was chocolate raspberry.

I’m thinking Thursday I’ll make a caramel banana nut oat parfait, then Friday and Saturday will be matcha based. Start the week off with indulgence, and end it with some balance. I’ve also been formulating breakfast plans for the weekend. Last weekend was Japan, the week before was Curry, and I still want to keep it on the healthy side for another week (must… resist… bacon). I’ve been looking up a few ideas on both the sweet and savory side… I’ve even entertained the idea of a vegetable/tomato based yogurt parfait with peppers and quinoa. It would be based off of a Bulgarian yogurt soup recipe I found years ago; Consisting mainly of tomato, peppers, cucumber, walnuts, and a few other ingredients. I was also thinking of adding quinoa into the mix. Despite what you might think plain yogurt mixed with vegetables, tomatoes, herbs and nuts isn’t as bad as it sounds.

Random Yogurt Parfait Appears

Today was a busy one, both at work and at home. Finally mailed off a couple packages and managed to even make myself a special work breakfast for tomorrow. Vanilla Greek yogurt mixed with matcha and honey, frozen blueberries and a crunchy topping made of organic cinnamon toast square cereal and walnuts that I crushed in a mortal and pestle. I wanted to do something different from the usual meal bars I’ve been eating during the week. I’ve also somehow managed to lose more weight despite my lack of trying. I figured with vacation and me being a human vacuum of food I would have put something on, but I’m continuing downwards. I haven’t lost a whole bunch (155 to 152), but I’m definitely at a spot I haven’t been in years, I’m at a point now where I might have to go through my wardrobe and discard some trousers, as well as buy some new ones.

As if I needed a shopping excuse… :zorak:

Some Dank Souls

I kept trying to draw on the tree to paint it until I realized I was in the wrong game

Played a bit of Sekiro for awhile, until I got annoyed with the giant snake (didn’t take too long), so I opted to frustrate myself in Remastered Dark Souls, and I managed to progress past the first boss quite easily surprisingly… I just needed to leap on it then keep chopping away at its ass until I stole his keys and went outside to play with a giant crow.

Bird’s The Word

I’ve arrived Firelink Shrine, and I keep getting my ass handed to me by two asshat skeletons. I’ll come back to them another time, at least I made it past the new boss and into some new territory. I would have worked on some video stuff but didn’t feel too hot after work today (or even during for that matter). I had to really push myself to make my yogurt cup for tomorrow. Unfortunately I couldn’t take a picture, but it’s a nice matcha blueberry parfait with almonds, white chocolate and some berry granola. I’m really looking forward to having it tomorrow, mixing the matcha powder with the yogurt gives it a nice earthy flavor. My strawberry and peanut yogurt parfait was still nice though, kinda reminded me of a PB&J sandwich without the bread thanks to the honey roasted peanuts. They softened in the yogurt and had a nice peanut buttery texture when mixed up with the yogurt.

Now for more of that healing sideways meditation.
