EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER!!!!! Plus other stuff

As a way to chill Yutram and I decided to play a little bit of a custom L4D2 campaign during livestream this evening… big mistake:

While I like the aesthetic so far, the whole map seems difficult to navigate, and not just because of the endless hordes this game creams its jeans over. I like exploring levels, and they make it difficult in this game to do just that… I’m not sure if this is in the map design itself, the AI Director executing the commands, or a little of both. But I do remember a time when L4D2 didn’t use the endless horde routine, it seemed less boring to have random hordes instead of just an endless crowd.

Other than our misadventures in L4D2 I did finish setting up SFM under Linux the rest of the way this afternoon if I don’t get myself lost on “script writing”, or rather taking notes on which segments to animate, and how to start and end each video. Probably my most favorite part next to doing the animated portions.

But for now sleep needs to happen, that also seems to be when my brain becomes its most creative it seems… as most of the things that come out of it aren’t things that I would typically ponder during daylight hours.

Another dump of recent streams

I did two different ones yesterday:

For tonight’s stream we did more L4D2, but with the addition of mods. We did our old school admin shenanigans, and wandered the streets of Japan to try and complete a Daedric Princes’ shopping list.

Part of the stream appears to be missing on YouTube for whatever reason (at least at the time of posting this).. however you can watch the full version on Twitch if you want.

Sitting Blindman Hidden BAAAAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAANNNNNNNN

Had another Skyrim stream this evening. I think I’ve cut up enough footage that I can start taking a pen and paper to write up what madness I’ll unleash in SFM. I haven’t figured out which video project will be my main squeeze yet, though perhaps tomorrow I can draw up the blue prints and determine which one would be the most suitable. I’m thinking in the future of having polls for people to vote in to determine what video I could focus on next, but that’s still a ways off. I would need to figure out what the best method would be.. perhaps implement a polling system.

Something I’ll have to research at a later date.

Cutting film the days away

The last couple days have been pretty peaceful. I managed to de-tangle some jewelry, work mostly on my art and even did a bit of a livestream yesterday; unfortunately it was not without technical difficulties. I ran some tests today, and I’m thinking updating my GPU driver under Windows fixed it. The only thing I updated under there recently was OBS, and sometimes newer versions conflict with older drivers. I recorded Skyrim for about an hour and a half and didn’t get any crashes. Hopefully it stays that way next time I go to do a stream.

In case anyone is interested, here are the vids:

Things that float fabulously in the night

I opted to take a break from SFM tonight, and wanted to do a livestream. NIGHTS is both a game that is as annoying as it is fabulous. I can’t really say this is something that I’ll repeat playing for an audience… or myself unless I’m in the right mood to take on these weird bosses.

Now for your viewing pleasure: My melons

Suck on deez melonz.

I streamed Skyrim this evening, now with more melons! I’ve discovered a watermelon atronach spell and just HAD to install it. You can either watch my VOD on Twitch, or watch my YouTube video below:

With help from Yutram we explored realms of Skyrim not meant for mere mortals (or console peasants in this case). We went to secret or forgotten levels that Bethesda never took out of Skyrim’s game files. I don’t even think we’re even halfway through the list of different cells, which means we’ll have more streaming of Skyrim in hopefully the not too distant future. 😀

I did manage to score a higher res copy of the stream for future editing. Will get to that as soon as I finish up my other works, though I can already tell this is going to be a fun one to go through, and animating it… 😛

“I’m sending regional manager Darth Maul”

If you haven’t seen these videos yet I highly recommend doing so. This is by far the best telling of the Star Wars saga ever done, and should be considered official canon.

I look forward to their own spin on the newer Disney films should they decide to include those in this amazing story. There are six episodes in total so far, all of them glorious.

Dear Esther, I did another livestream

This time my streaming went ALOT smoother, and not just because of the new stream deck. There was one problem when I started however… For some reason my recording drive disappeared from my list of drives. It turned out my IcyDock wasn’t working for whatever reason. I swapped it to another slot and it worked fine. I did get the dock working again after the stream, for some reason even though the light on the device was on it wasn’t doing anything. Pressing the power button on the dock a couple more times got it to work again.

But anyways the stream went alright. Tonight’s victim was Dear Esther: Landmark Edition; a first person walker where you listen to narration… so basically a serious version of The Stanley Parable. I haven’t played Dear Esther in years, and felt the need to revisit it (that and Yutram suggested it last night and the idea stuck in my head ever since). It was probably the most boring let’s play I’ve ever done, but I somehow managed to have fun with it anyways. If you’re interested in watching it you can find my vid here. It’s a little over an hour if you have that kind of time to kill, and much like the Freedom Planet stream I will be working on a video highlighting the best moments… if there were any.

Someday I’ll get it right

I made time to do a livestream tonight across YouTube and Twitch. The good news is I didn’t have any recording issues, and the stream stayed up the entire time. The bad news is for some strange reason the quality was fuzzy. It turns out my stream didn’t downscale for whatever reason, so I’ll have to double check that next time. Sorry! If you want to watch it still you can view it here, but I have a higher quality local recording I plan to pick over hopefully not in the too distant future.

Speaking of the future; I’ve ordered an Elgato Stream Deck to make things like transitions easier during livestreams. I have a plethora of ideas already set aside for it to make my streams a little more spicy. :v:
