Furniture Chess

Not much to write. I got all of the lipsyncing done on what I’m calling “Project Apple Institute” (does not represent final title). I’ll clean it up a bit tomorrow and start on animating the rest of the body.

I’m also in the market for a new dresser and bookcase. My current bookcase is stuffed full of books ranging from science to cooking, and I’d like to trade my current dresser for something a little more horizontal. A former co-worker of mine was also kind enough to donate an Asian themed 5 tier corner table that she had no use for.

I also need to go through all the shit I’ve collected throughout the dawn of time, and pick what to keep and what to toss. There are so many things that I just don’t use anymore, or have no need for. I’ve already thrown away a few things; like my old ghettoblaster, and a couple of dead lamps.

It’ll give me an excuse to make room for some more modern swag.

Blogging From Bed

Just wanted to see how it feels to blog from my Linux Surface, and I have to admit I really like the keyboard for typing. It’s a comfortable size and tucks away nicely when I’m done. It’s kind of weird using a touchscreen to make my selections for tags and stuff, but I think I could get used to it with a bit of practice, might even come in handy on the go! Well, moresso…

New Years Eve Open Thread

For the last few years I’ve tried to keep a theme for the final blog post of each year; Last year I posted my best bits from my YouTube collection in 2020, which I didn’t bother doing this year due to only putting out three videos. In the last couple of years prior I blogged about games that I’ve finished during the year. Sadly I can only say DMC 5 and AMID EVIL (Both are mad awesome games btw and both very Linux compatible via Proton), and for me that isn’t enough to end the year on.

With that being said; I think it’s a safe bet to assume that in one way or another, we can all agree, that 2020 was by far a burning dumpster fire of a year, if only we could agree on more. I learned a lot from 2020, saw so many things I never thought I could see in a lifetime; you know… like a global pandemic, a toilet paper shortage in a country that makes most of its toilet paper, idiots that are so afraid of masks that they have to attack people wearing them, fucktards refusing to understand science even if it’s literally at their fucking fingertips, a coin shortage that shit stains blamed on Bill Gates and the derp state, having to endure childish insults about wearing my “communist burka” or being referred to as a toilet paper nazi, or a derp state puppet, etc… the list could go on and on all night, and that energy was better spent on another project.

May 2021 not mean 2020 won.

Evening Open Thread

I didn’t get to play anything today, but I did animate an entire scene this evening. Progress! I’ll have to go back and refine it when I come back around to render it, but all in all I’m happy with it. Nothing that I can really share yet, perhaps after some more refinement. If I have time tomorrow I’ll start preparing the next scene, might be busy doing other things.

I’m here if you need to mouthwords. Open Thread!

Gem And The Truly Outrageous Dildos

I’ve been getting a bunch of spam email recently from some online jeweler. Weird entries such as:

Dear VIP Members,

The Chrysanthemum Stone, or “Flower Stone,” is a beautiful and unexpected gift from Mother Earth, a symbol of optimism and joy, named for its near perfect representation of this cheerful flower. Chrysanthemum Stone was formed from geological changes in the Permian age of the Paleozoic era, 248 to 290 million years ago, from high temperatures and the compression of thick layers of organic-rich mud at the bottom of the sea.

Wear, carry, sleep or meditate with Chrysanthemum Stone to activate dormant skills, talents and potential abilities that lie within the Self. For those who feel they have missed their calling, or are unsure of what their gifts might be, this stone inspires, enlivens and enkindles. Use Chrysanthemum Stone for a smooth flow of energy in healing work to clear the aura and open the meridians of the physical body from the Base Chakra to the Crown. It is an excellent support stone for acupuncture, and exercises such as tai chi or chi gung.

So basically they’re trying to sell me a crystal that will potentially transform me into a Super Sayian or some shit… that sounds fucking legit af m8! Why would I sleep with a fucking crystal? Do they fashion crystal dildos? Is that what they use to get that smooth flow of energy they were talking about?

Does this also mean that if you accidentally sleep with jewelry on you’ll gain strange abilities? I would be a super mutant right about now, a fabulous mutant… this is jewelry we’re talking about. This might explain the watermelon related dreams a small tad.

This Post Is Rated M For All Of The Melons

I basically came home on Saturday, and accidentally fell into a 12 hour nap. Hell even through Sunday I felt jet lagged, pretty much spent all of yesterday in chill mode. I made up for some lost animation time, and even made time to play a couple other things:

I played some single sessions of Melon Simulator yesterday, good game to play if you want to do something silly for a few minutes. It also has a level editor and a workshop. It reminds me of survival mode in the Left 4 Dead games, or any game where the goal is just to survive as long as possible. You can collect weapons, and even beat up melons with dead melon gibs, and feed upon them to regain your strength. Best played with a watermelon candle lit, some watermelon tea, and if you live in the appropriate state watermelon vape. :melon: I also played a bit of Far Cry 5 when taking animation breaks. I haven’t decided if I’ll continue animating today, or if I’ll wait til tomorrow. I’m anticipating this week to be more brutal than last week, and last week was already quite brutal… and I’m not just saying that because of my watermelon tourmaline gemstone falling off of my ring. I’m hoping it fell in a tote somewhere. Oddly enough I was contemplating buying another ring for the other hand about a week or so ago, and now I kinda had to move that up a bit it looks like.

No, I don’t plan on wearing all of them at once… The two in the top pic were a couple of cheap cocktail rings I got off of ebay, and the other one is a custom ring I got off of Etsy! I made sure to keep the cost under $75. I don’t buy jewelry for myself very often, in fact I think the last time I bought myself any jewelry it was the ring that broke recently… Guilt absolved. I also got some watermelon tourmaline earrings on the way, oh and early Christmas gifts for people persons.

I’m anticipating another ballbuster week, so if I go radio silent I think you’ll know why. But on the plus side if I survive Black Friday there will be a video the next day. :melon:

Evening Open Thread

I’ll be heading out of town tomorrow after getting off work. I have a doctor’s appointment a few hours away and it’s early in the morning on the 30th; rather than drive there in the middle of the night/early morning it seems more  practical to stay the night. If I don’t post anything tomorrow that’s why.

Anyways, had fun tweaking one of my co-workers chains today. He was telling me about Valve not knowing how to spend money properly, and then made some quip about how it’s to please shareholders. When I pointed out that Valve is a privately owned company he got really angry for some reason and called Gabe greedy. He made it sound like Gabe, and Valve/Steam in general are a horrible company on par with companies like EA, and how all they do is collect money and not contribute anything back to the community. After pointing out all of Valve’s latest projects (Proton, updating the Steam Chat UI, VR, etc) I finally figured out where he was coming from. He was only looking at Valve’s lack of games being brought to the table, to the point of being absolutely bitter about only releasing a card game that won’t even be free to play. Which yeah, I won’t argue I’d like to see Valve actually make something again… but to say they’re not doing anything. I also had to laugh because he was reciting his rants as though they were actual fact, like Valve having shareholders. In fact it seemed like the more Valve facts I brought up the more quiet his voice became. He didn’t know that Gabe used to work for Microsoft or how he went to Microsoft asking for them to help fund Valve to get them off the ground only to be laughed at, he didn’t know Valve’s approach to projects being based on employee interest, he didn’t know about the working at Valve survival guide, and the list goes on.

I’m not a Valve/Steam apologist, there are plenty of things wrong that Valve needs to strengthen upon such as the storefront or their customer support. But to say they’re doing fuckall isn’t true. He even tried to compare them to Bethesda in terms of being similar… in what sense? That they now have yet another client they want you to install to purchase games on? I like Bethesda as far as their games go, but as a company they are more closed off, Valve on the other hand is much more open… perhaps a little too open (again referencing their store). I also don’t remember Bethesda paying attention to other operating systems, designing their own hardware or actually continue to patch their games over a decade later, or helping with open source projects. I told him about Wine (the Windows compatibility layer for Linux) and the Wine Foundation, and he wanted to know if they were a legit foundation. It was really difficult not to facepalm at that statement.

The whole thing made for a fun conversation though. Definitely a good source of entertainment.

I don’t know if I would be able to kill this spider…

He looks like a happy old man. Why would I want to rob a happy old man of his 8 legged life? He looks like he’d be happy scurrying across a Monopoly board with a top hat on.

An interesting little test

I found this to be interesting. It’s currently a hit thing to do in Japan, and since I was there I decided to go through the mental motions myself. If you do try it tell me what you thought of at the end.

math-test

I kinda screwed up at the end when they told me to think of a color and a tool. I thought of the color orange and the biggest tool I could think of.
