Sunday Night Open Thread

I don’t have much to write. It’s been a cold blustery day perfect for trying new blends of tea, and enjoying good food and gaming. I played a little more of Postal 4, did a few quests and quit to prevent motion sickness. There was also some server tinkering in Garry’s Mod, and I even played a little bit of the Shadow Warrior games — they look gorgeous in 4K! Looking forward to the third installment! If it’s like the other two games it’ll be a graphical ball buster. 😛

I might have enough energy to go back to making horrifying things tomorrow, perhaps something sharable? 😛

When Game Universes Collide

Yutram and I revisited the GMod Sandbox server this evening; we found some new maps to explore! We went to a couple islands and resorts, traveled down rainbow road, and ended up at Mother Base. It was quite the adventure!

In the pursuit of doing what no one has asked for – I’ve taken it upon myself to look for maps to add both Quake III Arena Servers, that will be another rainy day project though… along with making a shoutcast server that I can conjure up at will for DJing.

If This TARDIS Is a Rockin’

Yutram was kind enough to help me test out the new GMod server. We partied so hard in the caves of Dear Esther that we crashed the server. Stayed a little longer than expected, but it was fun to work and play a bit at the same time…

I think I like our version of the metaverse better than Fuckerberg’s. 😛

Dear Esther: Multiplayer

I’ve been doing a good job breaking in the new GPU! Yutram and I went on some GMod adventuring yesterday; we traveled from Dear Esther to China, it was the most fun I had playing Dear Esther.

I’ve installed some watermelon themed mods onto the main sandbox server, one of those mods is a virus that infects both NPC’s and players. If one of these bouncing melons is absorbed into a victim they will eventually turn green and explode into watermelons; thus multiplying until no one but watermelons remain. Fortunately we contained the virus where no one will ever look; a random hole in Dear Esther (or as Yutram calls it: Scotland).

Yutram also took us on a cruise in his jumbo jet boat.

Dear Esther is a already a scenic experience, but something about adventuring this place with a friend makes it better.

I also upgraded my flashlight. 😛

We ended the night by visiting the watermelon petting zoo at a Chinese temple. What a perfect ending to a perfect day!
