To wear or not to wear?

I do find it funny that taking this to a prom is bad, but cosplaying in this stuff is totally ok. As someone who collects a bunch of things relating to the orient and enjoys wearing other worldly clothes I took an interest in this article about this girls prom dress.

Like many other teenagers preparing for prom, Utah senior Keziah Daum wanted to find a dress that would stand out, β€œsomething that would be more unique and bold and had some sort of meaning to it,” she said in an interview with The Washington Post.

I always find it rather amusing how people can get bent out of shape over articles of clothing. I collect Kimonos (and even bought one recently), Cheongsam’s, Hanfu’s, etc. To me if you’re not supposed to wear a particular garment due to your heritage then why are these items being sold worldwide? You never really hear about people complaining about the origins of the T Shirt, and how people around the world wear them. They originally started as undergarments and eventually evolved to a point of everyday wear. We should learn and embrace other cultures and what they bring us… like good food. πŸ˜›

This hasn’t been a really exciting year for new PC Game titles.

It’s a good thing I haven’t actively planned on buying any brand new releases so far. Because all the releases so far seem to be extremely poor ports, ESPECIALLY on the UWP platform. The new Tomb Raider (UWP version), Gears Of War and now even Quantum Break have been total flubs. I mean, it’s pretty bad when you release a game for PC and don’t even include an exit button.

One of the most popular complaints – the lack of an option to quit from the main menu – is being added in an upcoming update. Until then, Remedy recommends using alt-F4

Simple question, how do you forget an exit button?!?!?! Did they not do any testing for the PC version? I’ve played Alpha’s that had exit buttons, what’s their fucking excuse? Maybe they never want you to leave their game? I mean Microsoft already kinda does this with Windows 10, and since these developers seem to be heavily in bed with them it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine. πŸ˜› Of course that’s just one of many issues with the PC version. Other issues include not getting a full proper refresh rate among other issues discussed in the article.

It’s pretty bad, we have these consoles that basically run the same architecture as PC. The only thing separating us is their Operating Systems, and yet somehow the PC ends up getting screwed over because developers are going to go where the money is, console. Which Microsoft is trying to turn the PC into… You know, if these titles didn’t release on the Windows Store and people actually had access to the game’s files, they could apply their own tweaks and patches to get it to run more properly… But noooo.

Everybody hurts sometimes.

So I’m on my weekend right now. I’m thankful since this week has been rather unpleasant. Not for me but for other people.

Yesterday we were all pulled off the sales floor to hear that a long time co-worker of ours had passed away the day before. Her liver had failed possibly due to her radiation treatments for her cancer. She was only 52. Then earlier the baby of one of our other co-workers had passed away, only three months old… It’s sad when bad things happen to good people.

If there is any kind of god he must obviously hate rejects. No wonder Dick Cheney is still alive.

Early Morning Open Thread

I wasted about 3 hours trying to compile a video in SFM. For the first two hours it wouldn’t compile a video due to a permissions setting, then the third hour was wasted rendering a video that it didn’t want to play. I got around it by rendering it again as an mov instead of an mp4. Even then it gave me a shit fit but at least Premiere loaded it properly so that I could encode it as an f4v. It still needs to be edited in with other stuff but the bulk of the next video is done. On the bright side my room stayed plenty warm due to my CPU and GPU working their arses off.

I guess now I can lie in bed and listen to the raindrops outside my window and fall into a deep sleep like I did last night.

Happy Thanksgiving! Thank god it’s not Black Friday

Worked a small shift today. It wasn’t crazy busy though I did get quite a few surges from time to time. It was mostly people window shopping for Black Friday. Thank god I won’t be participating in that. Not working, not shopping. I refuse to partake in anything Black Friday unless it’s online. You can’t get trampled on the internet, though you might bring websites down in large surges. πŸ˜›

Speaking of Black Friday I was catching up on my RSS feeds and came across this video. Made me thankful that I live in a small town. Seriously this looks like something out of Left 4 Dead 2:

I loved the comments for that video. I agree that this sort of thing makes us look horrible. We act like a bunch of fucking savages fighting for so called “good deals”. Trampling and shoving each other because the device/appliance/scarf/whatever has much more value than the person you knocked over for it. We shouldn’t be allowed to encourage this kind of behavior. Seriously if you’re the kind of person to behave like that I hope someone’s stiletto pierces your lung. It’s the fucking hunger games.

Oh well… Enough ranting. We all know that most corporations over here are too busy rubbing money on their tender nipples to give a flying fuck. I might as well enjoy this Thanksgiving special. I feel old for watching it. I remember when it was brand new. πŸ™‚ Good ol MST3K:
