Belated Thanksgiving/Black Plague Friday Open Thread

Sorry for not writing. I had to do a turn and burn yesterday, and the only time I had was to shower, eat and prepare my work tea for Midnight. I’m kinda surprised that we actually had probably the best Black Friday ever. They didn’t enforce the mask rule, but they did keep people in line and limited the amount of people coming in instead of it being the usual free for all. I don’t even know how I’m still awake. I was going to shower and nap when I got home this morning, but ended up doing some cleaning instead.

I didn’t buy anything at work during the sale, but I did do a little online shopping and managed to buy a DSLR camera! I went with a EOS Rebel T7i, and since I’ve been wanting to steam/froth milk more I also in a milk steamer/frother along with some holiday gifts. I still have some more shopping to do, but it will have to wait until I’m more… awake.

Actual Thanksgiving Open Thread

Work was surprisingly nice today. Everyone got free grande sized drinks from Starbucks (I had their new Praline Latte or whatever), work traffic wasn’t that bad AND we had full staffing for a change. Reminded me of the good times when there were more than just one or two of us at a time dealing with the masses. Now I’m loading up on Turkey before I enter my cocoon this early evening. I want to get a good night’s sleep, and I believe the Turkey will help with that, among other elements of relaxation.

The weather has been rather balmy these last few days, today and yesterday we got a well deserved amount of rain with the possibility of more to come. I might have to get under the covers and play a GPU demanding game just to get some heat into the room. 😛

I leave you with this disturbing video to commemorate the holiday:

That time of the year again

There was going to be a Vlog today, but Bioshock Infinite kept crapping out whenever I tried to Alt+Tab to set it up in OBS classic. I’ll try to aim for next Thursday or Friday, possibly both if I have enough time.

Speaking of time, there was none today. We received a ton of Black Friday freight on top of regular freight that had to be broken down. I remember last year and even earlier this year when a freight load was this large I was either scheduled or requested to come in early. But due to our shrinking numbers in people and hours that seems to be impossible, much like finishing up today. It was impossible, especially with every Tuesday being Geriatric Tuesday until Christmas.

That of course brought in some interesting people persons. There was one old man that grabbed a screen protector for an iPhone 6 and thought it was an iPhone. Another one wanted to know which iPhone case worked for her Samsung Galaxy Sky, and there were others. Between the excessive amount of merchandise and the constant traffic with a bare bones staff it just kind of ate at me. I can’t wait until Christmas just to get this damned stuff over with.

Happy Thanksgiving! Thank god it’s not Black Friday

Worked a small shift today. It wasn’t crazy busy though I did get quite a few surges from time to time. It was mostly people window shopping for Black Friday. Thank god I won’t be participating in that. Not working, not shopping. I refuse to partake in anything Black Friday unless it’s online. You can’t get trampled on the internet, though you might bring websites down in large surges. 😛

Speaking of Black Friday I was catching up on my RSS feeds and came across this video. Made me thankful that I live in a small town. Seriously this looks like something out of Left 4 Dead 2:

I loved the comments for that video. I agree that this sort of thing makes us look horrible. We act like a bunch of fucking savages fighting for so called “good deals”. Trampling and shoving each other because the device/appliance/scarf/whatever has much more value than the person you knocked over for it. We shouldn’t be allowed to encourage this kind of behavior. Seriously if you’re the kind of person to behave like that I hope someone’s stiletto pierces your lung. It’s the fucking hunger games.

Oh well… Enough ranting. We all know that most corporations over here are too busy rubbing money on their tender nipples to give a flying fuck. I might as well enjoy this Thanksgiving special. I feel old for watching it. I remember when it was brand new. 🙂 Good ol MST3K:
